If this is how athletes want to waste their free education then so be it. It happens at all big athletic schools. It is interesting that they tend to single out auburn. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

At every school in America that is FBS for this discussion, academics and athletics collide from the very get go in admissions.
Nobody cares. Most of us were fortunate to have our talents and gifts intellectually. Athletes were blessed physically, it all evens out in the end big man.

So we are the only college that "takes care" of athletes academically?
Good for us.
Good for us.

Are you telling me that Auburn's athletic department's first priority isn't to make sure all of their athletes are in engineering school?

Where are the flow charts? I demand my flow charts!

BFD
Totally no fricks given. Athletes are free to study whatever they want in a university setting.

Theres a whole cadre of hack writers that have a boner for Auburn. Pete Thamel, Thayer Evans, Selena Roberts, Joe Schad. frick all of em. Most are a discredit to their profession.
There are those who hate Alabama as well. Clay Travis comes to mind, but for some reason Tosh seems to love to take the piss out of Bama as well. (prolly cause he looks like Kiffin and its easy.)

it's not bama, it's saban. Tosh is a dolphins fan and after that whole fiasco has hated saban ever since. Ever notice most of his skits on the topic mostly center on saban and not alabama as a whole?

Not surprising, the state of Alabama values an infinite number of things above education

I agree. I guess I'm supposed to be outraged? Maybe, but I really need someone to tell me why.
This isn't a sociology or African American studies. It's a legitimate degree path offered by a great many schools. You can get a PHD in it from Penn (as in Ivy league Penn), Duke, and several other highly respected universities. It's a business degree for those seeking a career in the public sector, simple as that. I'm really surprised the program isn't larger with the number of elected officials Auburn produces.
The athletic department intervened and asked them to keep the program because athletes like it? You mean they advocated for their members? Perish the thought.
You are telling me they actually, like for-real offered to fund an academic program using non-taxpayer athletic revenue? Really? What the HELL were they thinking? If the school had taken them up on that offer they might not have been able to afford Aubietron! Damn fellas, get your shait together!

I bet you believe the Obama unemployment numbers as well.
I'll put my degree against and pay check against anyone in my field.

No they're not.
At least if they want to see the playing field. Certain majors(nursing, some engineering, etc.) require too much time outside of class for a football player. He would miss too much practice, meetings, work outs, etc.
Can it be done? Sure, for the super smart ones that have the discipline, but those are the rare exception.

Let that sink in.
now that's aggy-level delusion right there

Take your thoughts out of here and replace them with chastising and outrage.

My major at Auburn was self financed by the professor and the students from the get go(I was in the first graduating class). The professor even tried to purchase on of the buildings on campus, but they denied him. They tried to get rid of it for a short time, now its extremely popular. Campus politics can screw over legitimate majors, it sucks

The thought is based upon an average of the graduate population and is correct. As far as equal major/degree comparison, there isnt a difference and any one who believes otherwise is delusional

This is a non-story without AU's history with SACS.
It is odd though that this Athletic Department influence on academics was going on again given that SACS just recently reaffirmed AU's accreditation.
