Ask one of the few Alabama football/Kentucky basketball fans on here for a real answer.

Kentucky basketball is more impressive and it's not close. Atmosphere is much better, too. I could take a nap in BDS and not wake up during the LSU game.

Adolph Rupp - 4 National Titles
Joe B. Hall - 1 National Title
Rick Pitino - 1 National Title
Tubby Smith - 1 National Title
John Calipari - 1 National Title

That shows me that Kentucky is a program that can win with multiple guys. There is something there that is bigger than just one coach.

Also, Kentucky wouldn't get left in the cold in conference expansion either. They hold the Kentucky TV market and is a pretty national brand. UK actually considered leaving for the ACC awhile back (90s) and that was pre-Rich Brooks on the football end.

When did I argue against that?

I think Bama football because the SEC is much harder to dominate in football than basketball.
Kentucky is competing with the entire country in basketball, not just the mediocre SEC.

You didn't, I wasn't really posting it towards you, just clicked reply to the last post in the thread

I agree it's pretty much an even comparison. Was just disproving the notion that Kentucky Basketball is only dominant on a conference level because of the strength of conference.

Even if this was true, which it its not, Rupp, was known for playing anybody, anytime, and anywhere. Quite simply, UK was the best because they beat the best. This was also the case in the Tubby years as under his tenure UK had a Top 10 to Top 20 RPI every year he was coach. Not many basketball schools have been known for scheduling that tough.

Still is the case, too.

But if your argument is Alabama didn't do that then that would be silly as well.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Alabama Football is equally as dominant as Kentucky Basketball in their sport.

What exactly happened?

When UK got the death penalty it was from the mob influencing college players NOT getting the program in trouble for recruiting issues. In fact the main reason we even have the NCAA today and not the NIT as "the" basketball tournament was because Rupp was so angry he vowed never to take a team back to NYC. The NCAA agreed to these terms and their tournament grew while the NIT died.

One came with NCAA sanctions and 1 per decade is not like one every two or 3 years

Except Rupp was implicated for knowingly playing ineligible players.

I'm sure kentucky has made a final four one every two or three years throughout their entire history

that's not true at all. there are probably 100 D1 bball programs that don't even field a D1 football team

Yeah, you can't really use that to justify Kentucky's accomplishments being more impressive. How many major athletic departments value basketball over football?

They've done no worse than an NC or Runner-Up in every decade since the 40s I believe.

Belle, my response was not aimed at Alabama, but the poster who believed UK played easy schedules. 2 different points.
