Congratulations on completely ignoring every single factual thing I've already posted in here and adding your ignorant opinion on at the end. Appreciate it.

Oh the irony.

Houlgate, but it is ridiculous and should be thrown in the Black Warrior River

1. It pisses people off.
2. Other SEC programs have equally stupid claims.

So I say keep it.

And why would anybody even make a comparison between college basketball and football? I'd rather have a borderline top 15 CFB program like Auburn than a top two or three CBB program like Kentucky. If the SEC disbanded today, Kentucky would be the ninth or tenth choice by every Power 5 conference. UCONN has four national championships in the last 16 years and no Power 5 conference wanted them. CBB means absolutely nothing in the large scheme of things.

- We finished 3rd in the SEC

- Mississippi State beat us by 14 pts, won the SEC and finished 8-1-1

- we also lost to Vanderbilt, who finished with 2 losses as well

It's trash

Kentucky generated more revenue in 2015 than Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. They were 12th in the entire country. You. are. dumb.

Oh it's definitely trash, but other SEC programs have similar claims (no SEC title, no major poll title) and still like to throw stones from their glass houses.

Yea, both us and Stanford went undefeated though I guess they won 10 games and we won 9. We both claim it for a title. Talk about kissing your sister, a tie in the defacto national championship game.

Yeah he needs to pump the brakes about being a top 15 cfb program (especially Auburn ) over a top 3 cbb program but at the same time no one wanted UConn during conference expansion even though they've been one of the elite programs for like 20 years now.

UConn, while having a successful program, doesn't even come close to being as valuable as Kentucky basketball. And fwiw, they didn't field a D1-A football program until 2002, of course they didn't spark a lot of interest from the big conferences.

You know that football makes more money than basketball even at UK, right?

I'm very aware of that, but the reason Kentucky is in the top half of the SEC in revenue is because of their basketball program

Kentucky basketball is the equivalent of USC football, a very dominant program beating up on a weak conference.

Except for that whole second most National Championships thing among other statistics they lead against all schools or are at worst 2nd behind UCLA or UNC/Duke.

quote:

Kentucky leads all schools in total NCAA tournament appearances (54), NCAA tournament wins (120), NCAA Tournament games played (167), NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances (41), NCAA Elite Eight appearances (36), and total postseason tournament appearances (63). Further, Kentucky has played in 17 NCAA Final Fours (tied for 2nd place all-time with UCLA), 12 NCAA Championship games (tied for the most all-time with UCLA), and has won 8 NCAA championships (second only to UCLA's 11). In addition to these titles, Kentucky won the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in both 1946 and 1976, making it the only school to win multiple NCAA and NIT championships.

Equivalent to Alabama leading the country in most Bowl Games and most Bowl Wins, including mostly Sugar/Orange/Cotton/Rose type bowls in the era when not everybody just went to Bowls (like UK with the NCAAT pre-1985).

quote:

has won 8 NCAA championships (second only to UCLA's 11)

Equivalent to Alabama having 10 AP National Titles, #1, and Notre Dame having 8, #2

The two programs are pretty much the same

I agree it's pretty much an even comparison. Was just disproving the notion that Kentucky Basketball is only dominant on a conference level because of the strength of conference.

Yea, that is silly. Basketball's tournament means you have to prove yourself against multiple elite teams from outside your league to win a title, even in the old days with a smaller tournament.

I'd argue that UCLA had the greatest dynasty and Kentucky has had the greatest program overall.

Belle, you are smarter than this.

While idiots establish dynasties in mere years or a single coach. Dynasties are by definition multi generational. The Han Dynasty went what, 1,000 years. In Egypt it was not a single pharaoh building a single burial vault but generation after generation doing so.

UCLA is John Wooden + Papa Sam, and once they were done, UCLA became a shell of its former self.

UK has been in the NCAA from the beginning till now and they have clammed the crown with (5) FIVE different coaches. That is a Dynasty, UCLA just had a good run.
