Which makes it more impressive that we've been ranked that long......

So "mythical" titles don't count in football but mythical polls count in basketball?
Thanks for playing, indeed.

then why can't alabama dominate it's own conference in football like uk has in basketball?

Well we do have more SEC titles in football than everyone else

No, but it makes sense that teams that have played the equivalent of 5-6 more full seasons (10 more in Michigan and Ohio State's case) would have at least 20-30 more wins.

Michigan has 61 more wins and played 122 more games
Ohio State has 11 more wins and played 60 more games
Nebraska has 16 more wins and played 46 more games
Texas has 21 more wins and played 21 more games

Is Alabama the greatest football program of all time?

Half of the nation says yes... it seems the other half of the votes are divided among the remaining programs.

I doubt Kentucky could get this close to a consensus....the better question would be is UCLA the greatest basketball program of all time. Unfortunately they just are, for now.

eta...this poll was taken before Bama's most recent national championship

One decade of relevance doesn't make them the greatest program.

Wooden last title game was Kentucky. The one year, 1966, that UCLA didn't make the title game, guess who did mfers?

Don't deny our greatness. Just embrace it.

how about all-time winning percentage?

Kentucky is #1 all-time
Alabama is 5th all time

10 of UCLA's titles came in an 11 year period. That's not the "best basketball program of all time", but it is a good decade.

32% of Alabama's all-time games played were played against the Top 15 in all-time wins in the sport.

Alabama's record against the Top 15 programs all time in wins is 224-151-19 (57% winning percentage).

That is definitely true in some regards. If you all had strung together a few more in the 2000s there would be no question that LSU baseball would be the cream of the crop.

Got to go with Bama football. More teams take football more seriously, and that's especially true in the SEC.

Either way, both programs have been very good for a very long time through lots of different coaches.

I don't really know why or how this argument should really be made.

Agreed. For one conference to be able to claim that it is the tops in Basketball, Football and Baseball is unimaginable. Add in Gymnastics and this run we are putting together in softball and it is like the SEC is a sports academy

Last 3 Men's Golf Titles have been won by SEC teams as well (2013 - Alabama, 2014 - Alabama, 2015 - LSU).

I'd argue that UCLA had the greatest dynasty and Kentucky has had the greatest program overall.

that's not true at all. there are probably 100 D1 bball programs that don't even field a D1 football team

bama in FB.
HM: LSU, A&M, and Tenn in track,
