Two different sources, intricately connected to University of Tennessee athletics, on Monday told 247Sports that a move to tab Fulmer as the new top athletics administrator was "about done" and another saying "it's all but done" in terms of hiring Fulmer to a multi-year deal as A.D.

Additionally, numerous sources on Monday told 247Sports that Fulmer's strong rapport with UT system president Dr. Joe DiPietro, particularly their work together as ambassadors and in fundraising for UT approximately the past half-year.

Coming ~Halloween 2017.

I guarantee he will hire himself as the interim if he fires Butch.

Very interesting. Kind of curious as to Vols fans thoughts on this one.

No doubt he'll be 100% Vol through and through with no divided loyalties. Which is nice.

Nobody could question his loyalty or devotion to winning, but I do question his competence.

To be fair, until Saban arrived, Phil owned Bama.

Bro, this is half the battle. This is a much better hire than folks are giving credit for. Don't let his last few years as coach color your opinion. Fulmer has all the tools to make a great AD. Besides, if nothing else it pisses off Bammers and that's worth it's weight in gold.

Also he'll be an AD whose expertise is football. Big time. Although you want improvement and success in all sports, football has been, is, and always will be king of the SEC sports world. Fulmer will certainly understand that.

Yeah, but Saban arrived, and they're not going back to the Shula days anytime soon. We aren't going to approach their level, either.

Lyle has 1 more year, then Phil will empty the vault at First Tennessee Bank to bring us the GOAT combo of Gruden and Manning.

He'll get us Cutcliffe.
