Fulmer has already been a UT football coach for 30+ years.

Hopefully all the football recruits will at least be able to read and write.

Since Charley Pell has zero to do with Fulmer, your article, is pretty useless and also inaccurate.

Florida has since changed its ways, while Tenn has not. It's funny that you think Travis Henry can read and Dee Morley says thanks for getting my high school grades mysteriously up to the minimum level.

Why did UF change its ways if the article is inaccurate?

It wasn't Charlie Pell acting alone. It was a culture of cheating at UF.

The fact that UF was cheating and that it was the culture at UF doesn't mean the article is accurate. We were cheating as was everyone else. That article is still not accurate. They didn't even get the names right and I know everyone listed in the article personally.

I thought the era of hiring old football coaches as ADs has passed us?

I thought every big program hired professional ADs instead.

Disagree here. We're still a major program, just not a successful program. When we start having game turnouts like Miami, then we're in trouble.

Maybe that's exactly what's needed. As long as the place is packed with 100k+ every Saturday, is there really any reason for the decision makers to change from the status quo?

The last successful AD we had was Doug Dickey and we've been in decline since his retirement. We went from a healthy AD in multiple sports to an AD that is in the 100s of the Directors Cup under the guidance of 'professional ADs.'

And FWIW, Fulmer IS a professional. While y'all thought he was retired he was busy running a capital firm and helping ETSU restart their football program from scratch. His connections to the fundraising, coaching, and football world in general are off the charts.

We could do a helluva lot worse. In fact, we have.

Two different sources, intricately connected to University of Tennessee athletics, on Monday told 247Sports that a move to tab Fulmer as the new top athletics administrator was "about done" and another saying "it's all but done" in terms of hiring Fulmer to a multi-year deal as A.D.

Additionally, numerous sources on Monday told 247Sports that Fulmer's strong rapport with UT system president Dr. Joe DiPietro, particularly their work together as ambassadors and in fundraising for UT approximately the past half-year.

I understand that the only thing remaining is for UT to work out the contract terms on just what exactly the local Krispy Kremes and Dunkin' Donuts are required to offer up. Apparently the agent for Fulmer is asking for more than the franchises are willing to give. But a resolution is coming soon....

Have you been to Miami? Many other races down there, as opposed to up here.

Races that don't give a rats arse about our version of "Football".

May have been self imposed to get ahead of the NCAA looking at real estate in knoxville after the Kiffin/Pearl eras, but there was some other probation things like less recruiting hours or something. Iirc we were 2 schollys down (to 23) for a couple of Dooleys years. Which made it difficult for him to fill the cupboards after he had to break the news to players kiffins "promises" won't be kept. Dooley didn't have the liberty of 30+ scholarships to offer like Jones walked into. Like Dooley or not the guy took on the biggest part of the mess that the Hamilton/Fulmer/Kiffin fiasco left behind. I will always think that the Dooley Era was more about fixing/stabalizing UTAD as a whole than just UT Football. Jones just has had to focus on UT Football thanks to Dooley being the stop gap.

Have you totally forgotten how depleted our roster was in Butch's first year? Dooley just stopped recruiting completely during his last year

We are still damaged in the Oline bc of Dooley not recruiting a linemine AT ALL his last two seasons

I don't think he has any desire to coach anymore.

FWIW in Dooleys last year (2012) we were far from putting 100k+ in Neyland every Saturday. Changes were made but maybe not to the extent that was needed and the ones made are questionable at this point
