The NCAA announced additional penalties that have been levied against Tennessee stemming from a major infractions case involving former assistant Willie Mack Garza, who was on ex-Vols coach Lane Kiffin's staff during the 2009 season. The additional penalties include a two-year addition of the probation levied during the 2011 infractions case, a reduction in the official visits from 51 to 47 during the 2012-13 academic year, a reduction in the evaluation days during the spring 2012 evaluation period (already completed) and the elimination of complimentary tickets for the first two conference games during the 2013 season for prospects making unofficial visits.

I'm not seeing any loss of scholarships there.

Just to be clear...loss of scholarships like Dooley had because of Kiffin not fall under sanctions? Serious question.

Lol, we didn’t lose scholarships because of Kiffin. Dooley was more concerned about shower etiquette than he was about players going to class, or not breaking the law, or you know, playing football.

Imagine getting Phil AND Blackburn. Phil as Football Director, Blackburn can handle the other sports.

I think the NCAA knew what a giant weasel Kiffin was and remains, so there was the lightest penalty possible.

You keep posting that lame arse picture like it's cool or funny or something. Give it a break, guy that keeps comparing Butch Jones to Johnny fricking Majors.

1. V&S first noted that Jones might have some Majors in him.

2. I like that picture and was able to find it somewhere on my PC whence I copied it off the 'net in 2009.

3. Lane Kiffin is a weasel.

You are the only person on any of the forums I frequent, to ever make such a ridiculous comparison. I know for a fact I've seen you post that multiple times here, Walter.

I'm inclined to think this has a shot at being a decent hire and that, at worst, it won't do any long term damage to the sport programs.

Fulmer is not a spring chicken anymore, if he turns out to be a horrible AD then he can be gently shown the door in a few years. If he turns out to be good then he can hold down the fort for a while so UT has plenty of time to groom a replacement.

So for the record, you don't see Jones as a coach who will try to sit on a lead, and you may or may not think that Majors had that tendency.

For the record, you sound like an asinine, VN dullard comparing this osh kosh training shoes wearing, cheesy, yankee arse, buzz cut looking shyster to Mr. Tennessee, Johnny fricking Majors. You know, the guy that won multiple SEC championships as both a head coach and star player for VOLS and laid the foundation for Phillip Fulmer to turn VOLS into an elite juggernaut in the 1990's.

Majors props as a player did not extend to him being a coach at Tennessee. I was an undergrad 78-81. The worst record in 75 years came under Majors. 4-7.

Once Fulmer replaced Majors the program immediately began to show great improvement.

I never liked Johnny Majors. He never showed me much. Multiple must equal two huh?

Majors also just disappeared for what, 20 years? Fulmer did much more for UT than Majors did. He should get more recognition.
