The government accused Russian Black Sea forces of trying to seize two airports Friday in Crimea but said Ukrainian security forces had prevented them from taking control.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov earlier characterized the presence of the unidentified armed men, who wore uniforms without insignia, as an "armed invasion."

There are also lots of reports of Russian aircraft in Ukrainian airspace. Something is afoot. It would suck to be the Ukraine right now.

Russia can't afford to lose the Ukraine to western banking imperialism.

This likely isn't going to end pretty.

It's certainly going to get ugly. Ukraine is split ethnically east vs west. The pro Russia east would welcome much closer ties with Moscow. The western side of Poles and Ukrainians want to be aligned with the EU.

This is how civil wars get started and I doubt Russia will be shy about jumping in to support the ethnic Russians.

My question is what will the EU and America do when Russia jumps in militarily?

Good thing we already have combat troops and troop transit centers so close to the action.

Our secretary of state will offer another "stern" rebuke, but we'll do nothing.

We can't afford to.

I know we can't.

I wish Obama would shut the frick up with his stern warnings. Everyone knows we aren't doing anything about it.

we will tell putin we are giving him a red line, Putin will get on his bear and strut across the line as obama lectures him for not wearing a helmet while riding the bear.

It's almost like we tried that before. I guess the 80s are coming back in fashion, we ought to bring back the foreign policy too.

After our recent military interventions, it gives me cringe to hear Kerry tell another nation to "respect the sovereignty of others".

Not political. We've made bad choices latley.

Absolutely.

We have no standing to pass judgement on others.

Nothing. Hopefully... The Cold War is in remission but it wouldn't take much to be back in full force

You know a lot of people gave Romney shite for saying Russia is our biggest geopolitical enemy. The last year has shown him to be correct.

The cold war is slowly creeping back and will as long as Putin is in power.
