Here's Alice (richest in Texas) getting her honorary doctorate a few years ago.

If she leaves only 1/37 of her wealth to the U of A, that's still a billion dollars.

What the Walton Family Foundation is doing in the region lately is peanuts compared to what is going to happen when its time to pass the real $$. Alice has no heirs.

Yeah, I went to HS with him. It wasn't his x it was the other guy in the cars, but he was driving and the officer was a dick.

He was probably the best QB we had. He worked his arse off too.

Yeah, I don't think that article is correct. The Penningtons have more money than Benson in Louisiana

They grandparents are dead and the money was split between the children I believe.

Combined yes, separate, I'm not so sure.

Blackstones aren't billionaires are they?

There is a reason they settled in Arkansas

Because they can own Arkansas. All they have to do is threaten to pull stakes and the Arkansas government would legalize murder. If they did pull stakes NW Arkansas would turn into a ghost town in short order.

My best friend married Darryl's daughter and he told me Darryl told him he was worth over 3 b

The Blackstones don't own any of the Pennington subsidiaries due to Darryl investing his own money

When Jerry died he was worth what, $1.2 billion? Six or seven years later and his holdings (rather Anita's holdings) are now worth $2.2 billion?

Obama has been vedy vedy good to the 1%.

Anyways, may Jehovah bless Jerry ... he was one very very good man. Anita was always a sweetheart too.

Charles Ergen - Tennessee - $18.2 Billion (Colorado)

Great guy ... and why I always encourage everyone to subscribe to DISH. Only met him once, in Jonesborough, but he is genuinely a good person and a huge SEC/UT fan.

NW Arkansas is one of the quickest growing business hubs in the US. The rest of the state drags it down.

Very true. I drive from Northwest Arkansas to Southern Arkansas and Eastern Arkansas depending on if I'm taking the Memphis way to Louisiana or Pine Bluff way. Difference between NWA and rest of state is night and day. That area is growing and booming.

A. Your best friend won the lottery.

B. I'm sure they hide their wealth then. I'm also sure the Benson's hide theirs as well. If you're that rich and don't, you need a new financial guy .

Yup, look at that gay crap. Daddy Wal-Mart speaks up, different tone.

Sorta like Kansas with the Koch brothers, they run that state. Sad.

"Ole Miss kids are stupid rich. My pledge brother owns bass pro shops and he's a great guy too"

your pledge brother is a 66 year old man who lives in the Ozarks?

Ha. No way that would ever happen. The Waltons still own a controlling share of the company, and they are investing into Bentonville and the rest of Northwest Arkansas at a rapid pace. It has really kicked in strong the past five to seven years.

Hypothetically NWA would take a hit, but there would still be two Fortune 500 companies in a metro of 500k. I think "ghost town" is a stretch.

That's all the proof anybody needs. The son of a guy who owns a company 1/10th the size of Sams Club, subsidiary of Walmart, goes to Ole Miss! Oh my gawd y'all....so stupid rich.
