The Orange County Bar Association has passed a resolution to remove the Mississippi flag from the Santa Ana civic center where it now hangs, along with the flags of all other states, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Thanks a lot, Mississippi! You got everybody's flag taken down at the Santa Ana civic center. That really hurts.

The worst part about all of this?

The bar association’s battle may not be necessary, however. Local government officials say they’ve been discussing for years a renovation for the area where the flags are displayed, AP reported. And most of the debate renovation plans call for the tearing down of the 50-state flag display anyway.

It should be changed, but I'm offended that you ask if I'm offended. Or something.

The last time this came up for a vote I thought for sure it would be replaced. And then the pro-new-flag goobers screwed it all up by commenting about how it made the state look to those outside the state (interpreted by most as "yankees"). The old flag won out and won among all races and all areas of the state. Likewise, Californians chiming in will have the exact opposite effect from what was intended.

Yes, every time I see someone with a confederate flag on the back of their truck or on their shirt I think they are an ignorant idiot.

So I really don't want that symbol in my state flag.

See, I agree for the most part on the people and cars but not the flag. It's usually a pretty good indicator that I'm not going to like you if you have one of those.

But it's a big part of the state's history and representative of it's second tier college's mascot.

You can still have parts of you be on the wrong side of history and be proud of your history as a whole.

I'm a Christian, but not particularly proud of the crusades, the gay bigotry, self righteousness, or teetotaler part of it, but I'm not ashamed of being a Christian.

an answer to this ^^^ ?

If Mississippi decides to change it, wouldn't that fall right in line with "states rights, freedom and all that other great shite" you're talking about?

Not particularly. But that opinion shouldn't matter much since it's not my state flag. What matters is how the residents of Mississippi feel about it.

Yes they should change the flag.

And at most of the people who said the flag didn't offend them. Of course it's not going to offend you.

I think Mississippi should use this flag.

It still has the original body. Getting a new flag is the best way for Mississippi to shed some of the stigma they still get.

I really don't give a flying frick what they think. I personally don't care at all what our flag looks like, but I'm tired of people getting offended over stupid shite like this.

I support keeping it the way it is just so the liberals can be butthurt over it.

No, but I am not easily offended.

I'm for state's rights and all that jazz. So Mississippi can do whatever the frick they want to do.

We should outlaw the United States flag as well. All flags actually. It's just a dumb blanket.

Honestly, I like some of the new flag designs. Not the one in this thread, but there are actual good ones.

However, I agree wholeheartedly with the above sentiment.
