-Assistant Coaches have been told that they will need to turn in the keys and University of Missouri Property the day after the season ends and they will not have access to and offices or facilities until a decision has been made on the coach.
Damn, that's harsh. Their cars too, if that's part of their package? And I assume this is null and void if a miracle happens and we get bowl eligible?

Barry Odom wants to be a head coach and if its not here he will be interviewing for other positions.
Expected, and the right move for him.

-If Odom does get the HC position expect Henson and Ricker to be gone.

-Beckner's mom recently stated that Terry want Kuhl to be his coach, "No matter what".
-Some reports have also suggested that Drew Lock will be following Andy Hill should Andy Hill leave.
Greg Taylor, Tyreic Martin, Christian Holmes, Caron Baham may all be de-committing.
All reasons to look to Odom. And if it's not Odom, whoever it is better do whatever it takes to retail Coach Kul and Hill. Great recruiters with key ties we can't afford to lose, loved by players, great coaches.

New staff has some work to do

Odgeron- HC
Kuhl- DC
Odgeron can easily replace the recruits that want to de-commit. I think that mankes more sense than hiring Odom. If your going to have a HC with a defensive background, then get the guy who is a crazy good recruiter. Very few coaches recruit the Southeast like Odgeron.

Orgeron was a MASSIVE failure at Ole Miss. His best season was 4-8. His best one.

Look at his entire body of work, not just a bomb. Cherry picking is bull.
He did great at USCw.

In 8 games as an interim...at a school that was preseason top 5 that year.
Who is cherry picking now?
His overall head coaching record is 16-27, 9-22 in conference play.

I get he failed at Ole Miss, DC's who take their first HC job in the power 5 usually fail miserably. that's why I say steer clear of Odom.
But Orgeron didn't fall off the map after Ole Miss, he rehabbed at USC and he's ready for his second chance, which is the route DC's need to take. Plus whom better to be beside Kuhl during his first year as a DC?
And assuming he can lead his coaches as well as Odom, which guy gets Mizzou the better recruits? Orgeron would be a huge boost to Mizzou's SEC profile for recruits.

If they aren't good coaches, yes...they usually fail

Dude, recent list:
Randy Shannon - Miami - Alumni who couldn't get it going despite great talent
Mark Stoops - Kentucky- Going backward after 1st year
Bo Pellini - Nebraska - Lost 4 games in the weak Big 10
Will Muschamp - Terrible even with Florida talent.
All these guys can't be considered "Bad coaches." But the DC to HC jump is much less successful than the OC to DC jump. A DC usually needs a 2nd chance in order to get his HC process in order. While the OC seems to have a head start on his HC process.

David Shaw, Bob Stoops Pelini was not a failure. I'm sure there are others but I'm not taking the time to look them up, because this all has exactly zero bearing on what Odom would do.
We could sit here and list all the non power 5 coaches coming to power 5 that have flopped, but again it's not relevant.
More fail than succeed anyway regardless of where they come from.

Ole Miss[edit]
Upon arriving at "Ole Miss", Orgeron attempted to bring USC's passing game coordinator, Lane Kiffin, with him as the new offensive coordinator, but Kiffin opted to stay with the Trojans.[12]
Entering the 2005 season, Orgeron had hoped to bring a USC-style offense to the Southeastern Conference (SEC), but found limited success. The University of Mississippi's offense finished the season ranked 111th out of 117 Division I-A schools, in total offense; 115th in scoring; and, 116th in rushing. Though Orgeron's defensive experience, along with returning linebacker Patrick Willis, helped the Rebel defense in 2005, the offense always seemed to produce more interceptions than touchdowns. As a result, the 2005 team struggled and finished the season with a record of three wins and eight losses—the Rebels' worst record since 1987.
In response to the results of his first season, Orgeron fired offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone,[13] replacing him with former University of Miami offensive coordinator Dan Werner.[14] Also, Orgeron hired Art Kehoe, the longtime offensive line coach at the University of Miami; both assistants had just been fired by the University of Miami. In 2006, Ole' Miss finished the season ranked #108 in scoring offense, #111 in total offense, and #112 in passing offense.[15]
Orgeron's second recruiting class in February 2006 was successful, acquiring the written pledges of a national Top 15 signing class.[16] He followed that with the 32nd ranked recruiting class in February 2007.[17]
At Ole Miss, Orgeron recorded only two wins against teams with winning records (the 2005 and 2007 Memphis teams, which both finished at 7-5)—the fewest among active SEC coaches at the time. Until the 2007 season, he enjoyed the public support of The University of Mississippi's chancellor Robert Khayat and other administrators with oversight of the football program, including Athletic Director Pete Boone. In a November 2006 article in The Clarion-Ledger, Khayat said of Orgeron and the poor win/loss record since he was hired (7–14, at the time of the interview), "I think Coach Orgeron inherited a very difficult situation....I am 100 percent behind him, and I think that people ought to understand that he has a big challenge."
In 2007, Ole' Miss finished the season 0–8 against fellow SEC teams, and 3–9 overall. It was the program's first winless (conference) season since 1982.
On November 24, 2007, after Ole Miss blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead to in-state rival Mississippi State in the season finale, Orgeron was fired. He was replaced by former University of Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt (who had resigned from the Arkansas program three days after Orgeron's firing).

Nick Saban - DC to 1st time HC
1990 Toledo 9-2
The rest is well known.
EDIT: You did say Power 5 which this is not.
And generally speaking, I agree with you.
Successful HCs from the defensive side of the ball are much rarer than from the offensive side.
I'd love to see a detailed analysis as to why.

That guy was just showing how easy it is to throw some shite on the wall and see if it sticks.
He made a post before posting that about it.
Not that swga isn't a fraud though.
I don't think anyone has any inside info, Rhodes is new and he's playing it close to the vest.
