I'm not saying that TCU is better than Mizzou. I think they are pretty equal. Prior to GP, Mizzou was really 30 years removed from being nationally relevant.
TCU wasn't relevant prior to Patterson.

I put TCU and USCjr in the same category. Pretty unknown places that in the past few years have become notable.

What happens when Patterson leaves? TCU will go back to being a mediocre team, they are lucky he has stayed this long.

When Mack talks tomorrow on the search, we will know the answer.

If its Odom he will announce tomorrow.

If he's going for Herman or Fuente, he'll say the search is ongoing and will announce in early December. Coaches leave from smaller programs in December even if there is a bowl game. Players and administrations understand and they also want to get their own search going.

Mizzou is a much better job than TCU. They just have a great coach right now. Superior conference, superior fan/donor base, superior facilities. They are obviously in a better recruiting ground, but they are realistically no better than 5th or 6th in that pecking order and that is with the success they are having.

So IF we manage to win 1 more game and get to a bowl, nothing until January. That will really hurt recruiting. But you're right - likely nothing will be announced until the season is over. Especially if the person we plan to hire is coaching, and bowling, elsewhere.

We'll announce a hire well before any bowl game we play in. Pinkel will coach that game obviously, but hopefully if it's an outside hire they get right to work on the recruiting trail.

Legally, can they even announce tomorrow? Don't they have to post the job for a period of time?

As its a state job, the HC position has to be posted for something like 7-10 days.

Once the job is posted we will know that an announcement is near.

Somebody on TB is saying we are in serious discussions with Paul fricking Rhoades. I seriously hope he's trolling.

Mack should be fired on the spot if he hires this guy.

FSU waited about a month to announce Fisher as the HC, it was all a formality though.

So they can say Odom is the head coach in waiting and then wait until after the season to "make it official".

Yes, most positions have to post for two weeks.

Apparently a former player of Doc Holliday's tweeted that Mizzou was getting a new sheriff and congratulating Holliday on the job. He deleted it right away but it was talked about on PM and TB. Holliday is the 62 year old coach of Marshall i believe.

Paul Rhoades and Doc Holliday don't excite me. Why would we consider this when we have a talent like Odom available? I think you ONLY pass Odom over if you get the home run.

I'm just going to prepare to be disappointed here. If we hire a 62 year old coach I will probably cry.

ETA he's actually 58 according to his wiki page, but still...frick no

I'm going to be pissed if Rhoads is hired.I've seen first hand how Iowa St. has been for awhile now.Surely that is some unfounded rumor someone just made up.

Those two seem highly improbable. Mack picked his guy a month ago. He's ready and these two don't make any sense.
