Because the only way he wouldn’t stay, I would guess, would be if he was offered Memphis and he went there. Which would be a cruel plot twist.Craig “Kuligowski, I think, is one of the absolute best defensive line coaches in the country. Illinois was ready to make him their defensive coordinator. If Barry were to leave, is that an option? Sure. Who knows? I think if” Dave “Steckel hadn’t left, he probably would have been the choice. I think it would have been a negotiated deal and would have been announced the same time Gary was announced. But he did leave and the optics of his first season, regardless of whether that’s his fault or the roster he inherited, make it hard to think Mack Rhoades would go that route now.”

I wish Steck nothing but the absolute best. But I think we came out ahead.

Thanks for posting.

Interesting that the expert sees a way Fuente, Odom and Kul could all stay on one staff.

Also interesting that he thinks Mack Rhoades will get his first choice.

Fuente to Va Tech is getting a lot of play. Herman is a long shot, at best. These are the only two Id want over Odom.

If we pass on Odom for some retread or nobody power 5 coach I'm going to be REALLY pissed.

PM has crossed off both Herman and Fuente apparently.

Just give the job to Odom, and do it now!

No sales job needed for me, but how do you see him fixing this abortion of an offense?

More accurately, what would you propose to fix this abortion of an offense.

Whatever it is it has to be built around protecting / maximizing a pocket QB in Drew Lock.

I'm with you.

Why are those two gone? Higher profile gigs?

He got priced out of our market, given his relative newness I think.

Money shouldn't be an issue. Well until the protests I guess. I wonder if any of the big boosters have or are still pulling out because of it or have they gotten over it or did they never pull out.

Do you pay Herman at the beginning of his contract like Pinkel was being paid at the end?

We can. I'm not sure you do.

I can't see how. Unless boosters are pissed. I know we can pay more than what Houston just offered.

More sure, but not enough of a difference for him to take a risk of failure.

He knows he is going to have success again next year. Easy schedule, star QB returns. If he leaves and has a rough season or two he is no longer a hot name.

If it was doubling or tripling his salary it would be worth it, but not now.

Then he's not the right guy. I hear ya and don't disagree. But if you're bringing in a guy for 2 million it probably means it's not a big get. It probably means it's Odom.

I don't think money is driving this decision in a big way. I just don't think it makes sense to pay Herman $4M (which might be what it costs to get him now, Houston upped him to $3M from what I heard) for his great season unless you're positive he's the answer.

You can't compare what Pinkel makes to the salary of the next coach and how long it took Pinkel to get here. its inflation. its like talking about yankee outfielders. they will pay what they need with no thought of the player before. this is a good market for a coach to be looking for a power 5 gig.

Herman will get 4 mil from someone unless miles and richt are on the market. herman is the hottest name out there.

usc might lure one of those guys away but they will drop 4 mil plus the buyout 2.5 mil with out a thought.

if we want herman or fuente, we need to back up the truck.

"Talk" that is coming out.

-Assistant Coaches have been told that they will need to turn in the keys and University of Missouri Property the day after the season ends and they will not have access to and offices or facilities until a decision has been made on the coach.

-Barry Odom wants to be a head coach and if its not here he will be interviewing for other positions.

-If Odom does get the HC position expect Henson and Ricker to be gone.

-Beckner's mom recently stated that Terry want Kuhl to be his coach, "No matter what".

-Some reports have also suggested that Drew Lock will be following Andy Hill should Andy Hill leave.

Greg Taylor, Tyreic Martin, Christian Holmes, Caron Baham may all be de-committing.
