Did you know Steinbeck pretty much stole The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men?

I didn't. Just googled about it.

Blows my mind a bit. Always been big on Steinbeck.

Few years back the guy from Sunvolt/Uncle Tupelo (St. Louisan) and Jim James from my morning jacket (one of favorite bands) did an album made from Guthrie's notes. It was okay. Spun me into some heavy listening to Woody at a time I was reading a lot of stuff that paralleled it.

My grandpa had a lot of Woody Guthrie and Townes. Always played it for me.

Yeah, the more I learn about that particular time in American history, the more interested I become. It's not talked about much, and I think I know why.

Imagine all of that happening now, and a US president implementing socialism to fix it. Capitalism flat out failed, and it was fixed with some real leftist shite.

The one thing that struck me about the documentary was with each passing year of the drought in the plains, the farmers resolved to "try harder" the next year. Just struck me as a strange way to think.

As if the concept of trying harder would bring rains and fix the economy.

I really enjoyed it. If you're bored one night, and you like this sort of shite it's worth a watch.

Ken Burns documentary about the Dust Bowl last night.

I will have to check that out. I enjoyed a couple other Burns' documentaries.

Fat Adams wishes he had that kind of pop.

What a bomb.

And yet he is tied for most RBI on team.

Matt is a fine ball player.

He is John Kruk 2.0.

Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Guess I'll get to see in person how "garbage" he is later this month then.

Not that Adams is totally inept, he can obviously slap a single.

But the point on his RBI's has a fair amount to do with where he bats in the order.

This game is crazy.

Won 3 extra inning games in a row.

Down 5-0 tonight. Came back.

Matheny has grown as a manager. He's himself. First couple years he seemed like he was afraid to make a mistake, say the wrong thing.

Got to give him credit for how strong this team is mentally.

Yep, Adams is only hitting close to .300 because of a 3 game tear against the awful Phillies in which he went 8-13 and raised his average by almost 100 pts.

Since? 4-15 with 2 RBI's.

The platoon with Reynolds is working if he sticks to it, and Reynolds is giving himself a case for more playing time.

Honestly, I just hate Adams' swing, it's so long and loopy all he does is tops grounders to the right side.

I think he would be a decent bench player, but he's not a long term solution at first, imo.

This year will be a good judge of that though, hopefully I'm wrong and he hits .300 with 20+ HRs.

Times are good right now, but needs are looming.

We need another legit back of the bullpen arm, and probably a front of the rotation starter.

How badly does Mo want to take back the Shelby trade right about now? Probably couldn't be going any worse. Shelby on fire, looking strong. Heyward is flop and Walden is done for the summer.

Little early to make any conclusion on that, and Walden isn't done. At least not yet.

I think they'll let Garcia AND Gonzalez fail before going after a pitcher, but the bullpen could be an issue sooner than later.

Garcia will start if he's healthy, Marco will go to the bullpen. 8th inning is kind of up in the air though, probably see a lot of Choate/Belisle
