I'm pretty much on board with you. Either one is fine in a supporting role. I too think PB offers a potential wrinkle that I don't think anyone else would offer to the offense. He's also a step or 2 better than JJ defensively. My biggest concern with JJ is his arm or lack of it. Having said all of that, I have no problem with JJ playing CF.

Bourjos has a horrible OBP, doesn't steal enough, and strikes out way too much.He doesn't deserve anymore playing time.

People jumping on Adams the first week of the season. And now he leads team in RBI and hitting near .300.And walked off last night's game.

It's nice that Adams is hitting, I'll take it.

BUT he's a big, fat first basemen who can't hit for power.

He's not a #4 hitter.

He's kind of a paradox.

Would be nice to get power from the corner spots -- right now we're only getting it at 3b, and he's even more of a true doubles hitter.

You're not taking into account any of the available information.

He was hurt last year.

Has never gotten the chance to get into a rhythm while healthy.

The time he did, he led the AL in triples and got on base plenty.

I'm not saying I guarantee PB would excel, I'm saying the facts are he's never been given the chance here (while healthy) and if he were to succeed he'd change the dynamic of the entire offense in a very positive way.

If Adams hits 10 home runs with 100 RBI with a .300 average making the league minimum I'll take it.Gladly.

Of course.

But doesn't change he's a paradox.

4 hitter body, without 4 hitter power.

We'll see if he can keep spraying base hits. I'll take it.

He got off to a high average start last year too, then plummeted. We'll see.

He had 265 AB's last year. It's not like he was hurt 90% of the year.If he would be more than a .240 hitter when he was healthy I'm sure he would play more. But he doesn't.

Adams is only 26.Plenty of time to find his power again.I think hitting against the shift all the time last year got in his head.

I haven't watched much of the Cardinals this year. Is Heyward looking like a keeper? Also who was brought up to replace Wainwright?

Virtually no chance we pay what the market will pay for him.

Not a keeper.

Is contributing in various ways, but not a 20+ million dollar guy. No chance.

He's been fun to watch out in RF.

RF can be a no mans land at times. He plays it expertly. The best we've had since Larry Walker.

His hitting so far, very meh. I do like him in that 6th spot though. He's not a top of the lineup hitter.

And no, he won't be worth his price tag, especially since Grichuk could be a very good RFer at about the minimum cost.

Heyward does not look like a keeper so far.Cooney was called up to pitch in Wainwright's spot. Was roughed up, sent back down. Some reliever called up for Cooney.

Seeing the way he plays out there really puts it in perspective how important it is to have good defense. It's a game changer.

This team just keeps finding ways to win. Pitching has obviously been outstanding. Damn shame Wacha didn't get the W. Thanks Rosie.

Lyons is going to be called up to start Tuesday.Wong has a knack for going yard at the most important part of the game.

Watched the Ken Burns documentary about the Dust Bowl last night.

Reminded me of how much I love Woody. Great story teller, and a commie bastard like me.

Did you know Steinbeck pretty much stole The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men?

I had no idea.
