Not gonna happen.

They will absolutely not shorten Marco's stamina with Garcia in the rotation.

Marco will probably get his chance before Garcia -- but if Garcia is starting, Marco is in Memphis.

This. Marco won't be in the bullpen.

They're paying Garcia too much not to start him if he's healthy. The bullpen needs arms, Marco will be the long man and probably get spot starts to save Mart/Wacha/Garcia for the end of the season. They'll probably move Villanueva to different role now that Walden is out.

This of course is if Garcia is ever healthy.

Siegrest is looking a lot more like the guy of two years ago. The velocity isn't all the way back, but I'd like to see him get the first shot at the 8th.

Nice little graph from VEB comparing Cards offense to the rest of the NL.

I havent kept up with the thread much. But do any of y'all think we'll go after a big name pitcher to fill Wainos role? Weve been fine without him so far but I dont know how long that will continue as the season wears on

I think they'll wait and see what they have in Marco and Jaime before they do anything. I think both just recently made a rehab start.

Indeed.Everyone knows Garcia will get hurt again right after he is called up.But I don't see the rotation being good enough to win a World Series without an upgrade.Martinez not looking good either.I think Hamels will cost too much, but I wouldn't mind a trade for Kazmir.

Yikes, almost no hit today. One of the hardest teams to strike out fanned 18 times today.Peralta with only hit.

Damn, how bad is this Miller/Heyward swap looking right now. Mozeliak usually comes off pretty clean when making deals, but this one is trending towards epic failure.

Even the best GM's don't win every trade. You win some. You lose some.No one's crystal ball saw Miller pitching this well.Lyons sent down, looks like Garcia will be back up soon.

Heyward is terrible.

Bad trade.

Probably the worst trade in the last 20 years for this franchise.

JHey will be lucky to be playing when JJ returns, and that's saying something.

OTav getting drunk and killing himself will reverberate throughout this franchise. Consider him the proverbial pebble in the pond.

The outward effect will amplify itself.

Sure looking that way so far.Although he did hit a HR tonight to tie game. What a shame Taveras decided to be a moron for one night and throw everything away.Everyone's punching bag, Adams, out for awhile now.Team continues to find ways to win, but has a bunch of flaws.

Flaws.

Every team has them.

We can win the Central, after that, who knows.

If I've learned one thing being a Cards fan, it's that you have to get to October.

Dude's dead. Go easy man. I'm sure if he had his choice he wouldn't be dead.

I also don't know about a "bunch" of flaws. Do they have some? Sure. But it's not on the behind the plate, not at 2b, not at 3b, not at SS, not at LF. That leaves 1b, CF and RF. While Heyward has been a bust with the bat so far, he has added other dimensions that don't make him a complete bust. If he finds any resemblance of a bat, he'll be solid. CF, between Jay, Bourjos and Grichuk, CF is just fine. 1b has me a bit concerned. Starting pitching...relatively speaking, I'd say they're solid. There can be tweaks but overall not a flaw. The bullpen has been pretty solid for the most part, though again, some tweaks could be made.

You probably didn't mean it this way but when I read a bunch of flaws I take it to mean the team needs to be overhauled.
