Cardinal fans will justify the action. At least minimize it. Not Cardinal fans will vilify it.

Whether for a competitive advantage or not, it doesn't make it right. Nor does paybacks make it right. There are courts for that.

My only hope is that it was some low level employee who hacked it but did nothing with it.

Think you're way off base.

And why hack the Astros. It's like sneaking into the Oakland Raiders practice to videotape their plays. It makes no sense.

Jeff Luhnow's ideas are largely credited with building the Cardinals farm system.

If they were looking for scouting information, they hacked the MIT mind of the minor leagues.

Which is very different than breaking into some software because you're mad it is "stolen."

I'm seeing it ITT already. Not all, but most. It's a very natural fan reaction.

You are right on all accounts.Lunhow has been gone for years.Astros aren't even in the same division anymore.Risk wasn't worth the reward.Would have thought Mozeliak would not have permitted this to happen.

Or maybe it was some disgruntled former Lunhow scout left behind when he left that wanted to do some dirt on Lunhow by leaking info to dead spin? How is that Mo's fault?

The point is we dont know. Lets wait and find out details.

Short of taking to the street and conducting a poll...take a look for yourself. Start after the first couple pages where the shock wears off.

Link

Excuses, rationalizing, minimizing. Like I said, it's a very typical cult following/group think reaction.

If you prefer to see what it will look like in a couple months, simply analyze the Patriots situation. It will be almost a perfect parallel

If you are gauging the reaction through message boards on the internet and then using that as a basis for broad brushing the whole fan base you are a fool.

Especially STL Today Cards Talk. Come on man.

No one knows what really happened yet and you are already starting in with this milquetoast nonsense. Better yet, since you obviously have to know the details to know and judge how people should react, by all means tell us the juicy details so we can all bask in your wisdom and foresight and react properly.

Yawn...I knew that response was coming. If you are aware of a better place to get a large sampling of cards fans I'm all ears.

Of course, it's entirely plausible that the only ones excusing/minimizing the action are the ones with Internet access. Or maybe it was the fans they interviewed before the game when the news broke on Channel 5 today. To a man I might add. All the rest will have a level headed/objective response I'm sure. Sports fans are known for such things after all.

You'll have to point me to where I made any mention of how anyone should react

Not really. You need to lay of the "all and most" fans broad brush nonsense if you are using message boards as a sample size. Especially Cards Talk.

How do you know some one is minimizing rationalizing something until you know the details of said incident? Are the supposed to lay prostate on the ground decrying the team and asking for forgiveness without knowing the actual 5 w's of the situation?

Well, you must understand all the details in order to judge if someone is minimizing, rationalizing etc.

Please dont try and kid yourself that you are not "sitting on your lofty perch judging your peers."

That's inaccurate. From what I understand, Jeff Luhnow was one of the chief designers of the system while with the Cardinals. He implemented the same system when he went to the Astros. He didn't "steal" anything...he created it.

That being said, I'll reserve any judgement until the FBI's report comes out.

Not really putting this all on him, but would think the GM would have some sort of pulse what is happening within the front office and scouting department.I don't work for the team, so maybe I'm overreacting.

You're right, we should wait and let all the facts come in.Didn't mean to jump the gun.

This might be accurate and it might not. And it's also plausible that he created it and stole it. Work product stuff gets kinda wonky.
