The picture that has become clear to me (and other SEC foes as they gameplan) is to load up to stop the run.
When this happens it always tends to be the OL's fault. Or the Rb's fault. Seen it with FSU, saw it last night. When they bring 8+ to the line, It helps to have consistency between the Qb & Wrs to know what the check downs might possibly be. In our case there is just not much of that, if any.
When we think of our chances VS another team, we know for a fact that if we make them one dimensional, and take away their running game, we almost always have their number.
Other teams will attack us this same way. Sadly enough, I don't think they will deviate from this scheme though. Even after Jalen hit some passes against the noles, they still loaded the box heavy. And for the most part continued to cause us fits.
If I'm game planning against Bama right now, I load the box until the cows come home, and place a spy on Jalen. Even if he does hit some passes over the top, I still like my chances. The 2nd leading receiver is a Rb.
It is what it is.

Well if you're going by yards Bo is 5th not 2nd.

6-0 you mean?

Under Saban we are a run first team. We went away from that with Kiffin and people bitched and moaned. Now we run first and people bitch because we do not throw the ball enough. Some people will never be happy.

Lets see vs aTm
9 TFL for 28 yds
3 sacks
2 QH
vs Clemson in NCG
7TFl for 20yds
0 sacks
0 QBH
No matter how you slice it the OL did not help last night or either you think aTm DL is better then Clemson last year in NCG.

No, what I mean is that we are, for the most part, a one dimensional team.
It's great we are undefeated. Obviously, I hope we stay undefeated.
To act like Au/Uga/ or Clemson's elite DL wouldn't cause us major fits is just being silly though.

Some might need to rewatch the game, but nitpicking every throw is insane.
Hurts made 3 good deep ball throws, you hope you catch at least 1 or 2 of those. But A&M smartly took the PI on both, but only got called on one.
Nobody mentioning the great play for the third touchdown, when Jalen had time to make his reads and then throws the TD pass to Ruggs.
Last note is that the narrative that teams load the box against us is false. Most of the pressure occurred up the middle against Bozeman and Cotton. While A&M did bring 5 most of it was safeties coming from the edge. Watts was making plays on the perimeter, he is one of their top players for a reason. Yes Jalen ran into a few sacks running from a clean pocket into contain, but I take that over forcing a ball and turning it over. We tried a couple of screens but they are hard to execute when the other team is playing contain on the outside.
TL;DR expect similar execution in tight games even if Tua is the QB. This is coaching, we play conservative on offense to avoid turnovers on purpose.

No, I don't. That's what concerns me.

Btw just want to point out AM is second in sacks and now I see why. They played us well, schemed us well, and our OL struggled. Compound that with Foster having concrete hands, Sims having issues, JK having issues and the play calling being a little weird that was a recipe for us to lose. But we won and learned a lesson or two.

It shouldn't be an either/or situation at this point.

Right before Ridley got hurt I was thinking how screwed we'd be if he got hurt.

A lot of this is on play calling which is heavily influenced by Saban. He forces us to be too conservative unless we are chasing a game.
One great thing about Kiffin was his stubbornness as offensive mind. When Saban would demand he be vanilla he would go for the big play anyways.
Daboll would never challenge Saban like that and we all saw Sark's drunk arse didn't till we lost our lead.

20-1.
He is 20-1 because he is surrounded by the best talent in America and can rely on a Saban defense. Most quarterbacks would have that record at Bama. Don't be naive.

I did like seeing Daboll throw the bomb late in the game when we got the PI. Smart play calling. Didn't get too conservative.

I can prove I have gave him props for hitting a wide open receiver or run for a big gain because he couldn't pass the ball. You don't know what you are talking about.

This. I'm all in with Jalen. I love Jalen. I love Tua. Both are great in different ways. Jalen is more ready than Tua is, he just has way more experience. That said, Jalen has improved a lot in areas. However, reading some of the game thread and other threads here, I think it's time we all take a step back and look at what we're doing. Some of us are calling for Tua and ignoring anything good that Jalen does. Some of us are getting angry and being blind to Jalen's faults. I love Jalen. There were some drops, and A&M put the pressure on him. But at some point we have to stop making excuses for him. It's always something else. The receivers, the OL, the playcalling. It's never Jalen's fault. Tonight, it was a little bit of everyone's fault. Including Jalen. And admitting that isn't hating on him, and it isn't calling for Tua. It's being honest and fair.

This.
Jay Barker was 35-2-1. Not because he was a fantastic qb either. The defense during that time, was exceptional.

It's almost impressive that some of you can have this exact same argument with the same talking points on both sides so often.
I don't know how you do it. Props.

The same talking points. Same arguments based on circumstantial ideas. However, I think it's fun and good to have a healthy debate. It just that folks white knight or continue their drivel. Sally was right about how folks turn it into a "right or wrong" debate.
