It should have been pretty evident as to why Jalen goes to Ridley far more than any other receiver. This should have also been evident by all the playing time the freshmen are getting during the game and I'm not talking about during blowouts. Sims and Foster are not reliable and the freshmen are what they are, young. We do need to develop the TE passing game more. Jalen is doing a better job keeping his eyes down field on scrambles, but he still doesn't trust Sims or Foster and neither do I.

I think post-bye week Jeudy really starts getting more serious looks. That's always been the week where certain freshman make a move.

I like Ruggs & Jeudy.

I would have also liked to see some more TE plays.

The problems you usually have with Freshmen are that they aren't great blockers and they don't run great routes. These are developed during the season and get better. Smith and Jeudy will have their roles expanded as the season goes on.

I’m still aboard the Jalen train but he wasn’t good tonight certainly not good enough to shift blame. He missed Ridley badly early, then later on in the game made him dive to catch a ball that should’ve been a huge catch and run.

Now, he threw about three really nice deep balls. I thought Sims did a poor job of managing the sideline on one of them and there was pass interference on the other two (although the one against Smith wasn’t called).

So the deep balls looked good. The intermediate stuff was so-so and the movement in the pocket was bleh. And I don’t hold theplays right before half against him.

Smith's blocking has been impressive. Hopefully the other 2 keep getting better.

Besides Foster and Sims having bad games, I think I'm more disappointed in the OL than anything else. Just not a good night.

I think they all do pretty good job of blocking, I think they are still learning all the subtleties or routes and such. They will all be great for us next year because we will need it

Honestly Foster surprised me and Cam has always been reliable. They sucked tonight. Jalen missed a few throws but GD the OL didn’t help either.

No, but A&M is athletic up front. Always have been since Sumlin has been there. Even when they have bad defenses they usually have guys that can get after the passer.

You are placing all the blame on Foster and Sims when it really isn't. Foster in particular had a rough game, but Jalen can't get a successful pass to anyone that isn't designed to Calvin mainly because he doesn't read defenses. It's either Calvin or run. Again, Foster especially had a rough game, but we have good enough WRs that Jalen shouldn't be good for 11 completions a game. Our RBs did okay tonight. It was our passing game that never got on track tonight.

It is annoying when people say "but but but drops and penalties are the reason why Jalen has bad stats" and they don't point out how fortunate he is to have athletes who can get open and sometimes bail him out of bad throws with good catches. It is a two way street.

My point will be proven next year when people don't even talk about Jalen going to the NFL because he is a running back who throws sometimes.

So completely ignore the poor Game our veteran WR’s had and place it all on hurts for what reason? OL play was poor to average, Rbs’s did Ok. What do you want him to do? Throw to covered players and start getting picked? You’re right it is a two way street and the WR’s need to do their damn job.

They also blitzed us like crazy because they don't respect our passing game. A&M was 121st in the damn nation against the pass.

This. I'm all in with Jalen. I love Jalen. I love Tua. Both are great in different ways. Jalen is more ready than Tua is, he just has way more experience.

That said, Jalen has improved a lot in areas. However, reading some of the game thread and other threads here, I think it's time we all take a step back and look at what we're doing. Some of us are calling for Tua and ignoring anything good that Jalen does. Some of us are getting angry and being blind to Jalen's faults.

I love Jalen. There were some drops, and A&M put the pressure on him. But at some point we have to stop making excuses for him. It's always something else. The receivers, the OL, the playcalling. It's never Jalen's fault. Tonight, it was a little bit of everyone's fault. Including Jalen. And admitting that isn't hating on him, and it isn't calling for Tua. It's being honest and fair.

Hurts is only good for 10 completions per game and drops happen. Most of the time he holds onto the ball because he can't read more than one progression. Some folks are ok with poor quarterback play and that's what we get when a defense stops him from running all over them. You guys probably think we will beat Auburn or Georgia or Clemson with Hurts. Smh.

Never said ignore the WR's. I literally said more than once, just because I knew someone do this, the WR didn't play well. My point is neither did Jalen. I watched the Raiders every week and Amari Cooper drops a noticeable amount of passes. It happens. We just didn't have a passing game and that was as much Jalen's fault as it was the OL and the WR. The RB did enough. I don't fault them for struggling for consistency when the line is getting bullied and you have no passing threat.

Perfectly illustrates my point. The rest of the offense has some bad plays, but you are the QB for the team with best players in America. 11 completions a game, ignoring all else, isn't not a good deal. I still want Jalen as the starter I should note that as well.
