They don't go off the AP poll lol. If I am not mistaken, there are no media members on the CFP committee.

No chance. If UGA loses they are out. Nobody has already punched their ticket this season. These are de facto semi final playoff games.

We should've beat Texas when we played them earlier in the year.

Sure. Consider that the current rankings are the blueprint for how the committee views each team.
Because both Pac-12 teams are currently in the top 5, one of them is in with a win. That seems like the most guaranteed spot.
Outside of a team losing, they don’t want to have huge jumps or falls that they have to defend.

There are 8 teams who have a chance at making it (sorry Mizzou you are #9)
If any of the 7 teams playing this weekend lose they are out period end no matter how much wishcasting and dipshittery Ole Marge is doing down in C-Stat
Case for each team to make it
Teams that control their own destiny:
Georgia win
Washington win
FSU win
Michigan win
Oregon win
Teams that need help:
Texas win + one upset (Alabama, Louisville, or Iowa)
Alabama win + one upset (Louisville, Oklahoma State, or Iowa)
Ohio State need Georgia, Washington, Michigan to win + one upset (Oklahoma State or Louisville)
You can debate all the rest you want but you would be wrong.

I love watching Bama fans do mental gymnastics to justify them being in the playoffs.

Based on what? If UGA loses they are in a worse spot than Bama considering UGA would not be a conference champ. If it's going to take upsets for 12-1 SEC champ Bama to get in, it's definitely going to take upsets for 12-1 non champ UGA to get in.

Ohio State is the most likely to get jumped because they don’t get a chance at any impressive wins.
Posted on 11/29/23 at 4:11 pm to AGGIES
Ohio State is a bitchass piece of shite.
They won 2 games over teams with 8 wins (Notre Dumb & Pedo State)
The CFP should get punched in the nuts for putting them anywhere but #8

It’s commendable I will say. I’m impressed.

Beating UGA and having one of the other potential candidates lose a conference championship game isn't exactly mental gymnastics
Winning your conference championship game pretty much always needs to happen, and it's not exactly unprecedented for the favorite to lose their conference championship game.

I know, it’s weird. The committee seems to really emphasize losses, with some losses being better than others, based on the opponent.
Kind of like how the NCAA basketball committee does it…

I'm not just talking about this post in particular. It's a combination of the debates on this post and the season long "Bama should be in before Texas" justifications they've push. They are relentless, i'll give them that.

Has a team ever gone from #8 to #4 with a conference win and made playoffs? I genuinely don't know.
Posted on 11/29/23 at 4:31 pm to Bird_Hunter
No team ranked higher than #6 going into conference championship week has made the playoffs.
