Ya I mean that has to be the writing on the wall, you have a 1 vs 8 scenerio where Georgia won't fall below Bama even with a loss. I'm sure people are about to come for me.

The issue Bama has too is getting ranked above UW if they lose to Oregon because UW would only have 1 loss in 19 games to a #5 ranked team. Two spots are taken without a doubt with Michigan and Pac12 winner. It's almost like Georgia is in no matter what lmao. And fourth spot is up for grabs

Think about it.

Alabama has - and will continue to have if both teams win out - a better resume than Texas. Pretty straightforward.

Bama beat currently ranked #12 Ole Miss, #14 LSU, and #21 Tennessee.

UT beat #19 K-State (who lost to an unranked Iowa State team, and may drop out of the top 25) and #8 Alabama

In this scenario Bama would add a win vs #1 UGA and UT a win vs #20 Okst.

Bama would have 4 top 25 wins vs UT’s 3 (maybe 2) and have 3 top 15 wins vs 1 for UT.

So Bama has more quality wins.

UT lost to the #13 team. Bama lost to #7.

So Bama has the better loss as well.

Better wins, better loss equals a better resume and should be voted ahead of UT

I would not be surprised if they put Bama at 5, Georgia at 6. With an FSU loss i also wouldnt be surprised if they put tOSU in before either. The love they have for tOSU is disgusting.

GeekedUp left out the one most important criterion that should put Texas in over Bama, namely, Texas head to head victory over Bama in Ttown. That is the killer for Bama vis a vis Texas positioning for the playoffs.

Why would this matter for playoff selection for this year?

Bama needs an FSU loss

Michigan or Texas losing would do it too.

If Bama wins and UW loses, im not sure they would even jump UW as crazy as that sounds. They would deserve to but then you have UW as a 1 loss team that both Texas and Alabama would have to jump, UW's only loss would be to #5

Bama's loss would be to Texas who would be ranked at worst 6 or 7 (and could be as high as 3) depending on who wins what championship games, and Bama would have a better win over Georgia. There's really not a scenario where Oregon/Washington has a better resume if Bama beats Georgia.

There are many unknowns about which 4 will be in after Saturday.
But I know one true thing. Nick Saban has a horseshoe up his arse and never count him out. (See Saturday nite).

it's possible that Texas might lose, but Bama is not beating Georgia. that's not happening.

I agree with you. H2H should matter, but it shouldn't be the only data point when comparing teams.

I wish they would make criteria clear. H2H, best team etc. I hate when they say I think this team is better than this team. Alabama is probably better than Texas. But it’s hard to get past the H2H for me. Perfect world I would like all the politics, opinions removed and settled on the field. Not a fan of espn and their influence.

Louisville will take out FSU this weekend. Out of the top 8 teams, they are by far the weakest. Bama would beat any of the following: Washington, Oregon, tOSU, and Michigan. Only Tejas and UGA are problems for Bama, and UGA will be eliminated on Saturday.

Definitely a decent path for Bama to the CFP.
