I like the first helmet in that post. Same as helmet we currently have, but switch the numbers with a script A.

Thank you.

Other schools trot out that garbage as a way to get attention.

I think Alabama's results on the field are a much better attention getter than some tacky uniforms.

And the excuse that recruits like it? horseshite. Alabama has had the best recruiting in the country going on 10 years now. I think recruits like Bama just fine. Find me one quote from a recruit that states they chose another school over Bama because our uniforms are "boring".

Every picture posted in this thread is an abomination. To football AND fashion.

You know whats funny ? Is all the hate coming from the "fans" in this thread about the uniforms, and how they can't be changed in the slightest way for one game, but this has already happened. For instance the "fans" from the era of these white helmets would whip your arse for speaking ill of those white helmets.

The fans from the era of say the leather helmets probably almost stroked out when they first saw a modern helmet. The fans from the era when Bama had long sleeve uniforms were probably ready to riot when they went to short sleeve etc., etc., etc.,

The fact everyone is so damn sensitive about changing the uniform for 4 quarters is hilarious. The uniforms have not been the same since 1900 folks. They have changed several times throughout the years.

The material in this thread makes you so uncomfortable that you feel violated/struck ? The mere "idea" of using an alternate football uniform has you feeling that way ?

Time to get a life, friend. I mean that in a nice way. Like in a take that first step toward recovery kind of way for whatever it is that ails you. Best of luck, and God speed.

Well I have some good news, and I have some bad news. I'll give you the good news first... you can not, and never will be Oregon. Its simply not possible.

The bad news. You cant be Alabama either. :( Even though I'm sure you are very large, and probably every meaning of the word dense its just not gonna happen. Sorry kiddo, but life is full of disappointments; especially for those of us that grow up wanting to be an entire state, but you will persevere... I have faith in you. Maybe one day if you go back to school, and work really hard you can become a small county perhaps ? :)

I think its more likely they are just having a little fun, eh ? You may be a few decades too old to recall, but kids get excited about silly things like new uniforms. Hell even I like them, and even though admitting that to you makes me a book burning nazi in your very limited, ignorant, and obtuse opinion I will continue to stand by my opinion that it would be cool to see a different uniform once a year whether that be white helmets, or a throwback to yesteryear.

And the excuse that recruits like it? horseshite. Find me one quote from a recruit

Trendy Uniforms A Difference Maker

"I think it's great for recruiting," said Kansas coach Charlie Weis, who altered Kansas' uniforms to include five different sets for the 2013 season. "Recruits think, 'look at that helmet, if they wore this jersey with those pants.' Recruits love that stuff. So if it gives you a chance to get more players because they like the stuff, and ultimately help you win, that's what you have to do."

Athletic department officials agree that uniforms and recruiting go hand-in-hand.

"The student-athletes love it -- they absolutely love it," Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said earlier this spring at Big Ten athletic director meetings. "The coaches love it, because the student-athletes love it. The recruits may love it even more than the student-athletes. I get this question a lot from recruits."

While uniforms had been used for decades as recruiting tools, Oregon took it to a new level starting in the early 2000s.

With the support of Nike founder and Oregon alumnus Phil Knight, Oregon unveiled in 2005 a new high-performances uniform that kicked things into high gear. Players were allowed to provide feedback into the design of the uniform, which the Ducks used a recruiting tool.

"It opened doors for us," said Oregon coach Mark Helfrich, who got his start as a graduate assistant at Oregon in 1997 and has been on the Ducks' staff since 2009 after stops at Boise State, Arizona State and Colorado.

Eventually, the school in the middle of nowhere became the trendiest program in college football.

Top recruits began mentioning Oregon as a school of interest. The Ducks' success on the trail has resulted in success on the field. Oregon's last four recruiting classes average 20th in the nation and the Ducks have played in four straight BCS games.

"You look at the history of Oregon football, and we have a spirit of innovation," Helfrich said. "It's something we pride ourselves on that started in the early '90s. [Uniforms] are how we got in the door at all. And now we're able to compete a little bit differently nationally with recruits, and we can at least get in the door. But more and more, it just puts you in front of some different people."

Other schools have taken notice.

Yes, most of them are not all that great I agree, but to call them "abominations?" lol

Honestly, get a fricking grip. You sound like some sort of low brow cult lurker. Ease up on all the hostility toward ideas that you dont personally share, and it will probably open some doors for you.

Here is an article I found that states recruits think Bama has the worst uniforms in college football.

Now Bama obviously still dominates recruiting so the recruits choose the better program over the appeal of uniforms, but...

Polled recruits rank Alabama’s uniforms the worst in college football

LINK

While most die-hard SEC fans love the tradition and pageantry of college football, young recruits typically fall into a different category. Prospects identity more with flash, sleekness and style, thus Oregon’s many alternate uniforms that occasionally burn the eye upon viewing.

The contrast in styles between schools like Alabama and Penn State are stark between Oregon, TCU and Baylor, so it should come as no surprise that those schools landed on different spectrums of a recent poll conducted by Pick Six Previews. The post goes into great detail on their survey and is really worth checking out for any jersey/recruiting junkies.

PSP polled 100 FBS football recruits, none of which were currently committed to a school, to ask a few questions including: favorite apparel brands, uniform’s importance in their interest of a school, which school has the best uniforms and which school has the worst uniforms.

Interestingly enough, only one SEC school made the top of either category and it was Alabama with the worst uniforms in college football. This strengthens the argument that elite prospects wisely don’t consider uniform when it comes to picking a school, as Alabama has recruited the top class each of the last six years and are likely to compete for another top class this season.

While Alabama may be dominating the SEC landscape on the field, at least fans of other schools can take solace in the fact they don’t look good doing it.

Sorry bro, but nothing that you posted looks anywhere close to as good as this:

As far as your article, it's already been mentioned in this thread by more than one poster, and again, it's irrelevant to which schools the best players actually pick.

He has good intentions.

The thing is we have grown accustomed to wearing something simple and it works. I'm in my mid-30s so I'm not an old guy by any means, but the two best looking uniforms in college football in my opinion are Alabama and Penn State. Hands down. Our road whites are my favorite.

Now, would it be cool to see us wear a throwback white helmet once in a blue moon? Yeah. I could dig that. But to make wholesale changes just to appeal to the younger crowd? Nah.

No doubt. I don't resent the general idea, I just think that all of the ideas that he has posted have been ugly.

The problem for us is we are so simple in our uniforms on the field, licensing companies went above and beyond with merchandise stuff to spice things up. So now everything associated with us (houndstooth, terrible elephant logo, etc.) may work on a random t-shirt, but they don't translate to something you would want to see on the field.
