That being said, some folks are saying Kiffin will be hanging around for another year.

I've read several people saying he is gone, but where the hell would he go at this point? It's not like there are any great head coaching jobs out there now. No way he leaves UA to be an OC elsewhere. I definitely see him sticking around now to lead Barnett next year.

NFL coordinator is more likely than a college job.

"Insider" from BOL on Kiffin:

quote:

He has asked Saban to keep him one more year. No decision has been made. Completely goes against everything I have been told and heard up to this point. The fact he wasn't told no immediately means there is a chance he comes back I guess. But that last statement is just conjecture on my part.

This nonsense is just like the idiots giving "details" on Jimbo to LSU.

Is there seriously anyone here that thinks if this conversation happened that there is a soul in the world that knows besides Nick Saban or Lane Kiffin and possibly their wives? I mean, really? Jesus.

It's really amazing how much credit Bama fans give these "insiders" from a message board. I remember when one of them swore up and down that Gregg Marshall was a done deal. Thank god the insider was wrong.

I was searching the Auburn board to see about their DC search since we are both pursuing Pruitt. I found this gem:

quote:

I can't believe Gus would entertain Pruitt. They are nothing alike. Gus wont even say shite or frick while Pruitt lives the life of a porn star. Muschamp and Gus were different enough, but Pruitt is even more his opposite.

Good coach, but as was said, a bammer through and through. He bleeds crimson and white. His issue with Richt was likely that Richt wasn't willing to cheat. Pruitt is too full of bammer and wants to run the program like bammer (i.e. gotta get them recruit$ no matter what it take$).

I don't buy into the sleeper agent thing usually, but with Pruitt I would have to make an exception. I could see him intentionally sabotaging AU and then bolting to Saban after a season or two ready to hand over all the intel.

To be fair, the rest of the Aubs called this guy out, but I still thought it was funny.

Looks like Burton Burns will not make a lateral move to USCe

Crimson_Cover ?@Crimson_Cover Source tells us Scott Cochran isn't the UA staffer most likely to follow Smart to Georgia. Better chance that LB coach Tosh Lupoi follows.

I'm happy about Cochran, very pissed about Tosh though. Damn

I was hoping he would come here if Cochran left.

Shouldn't happen unless he's being promoted to DC.

S&C coach Cochran is not going to UGA, I believe he was with Saban at LSU now at Alabama salary around 500.000 a year and I am sure Saban would get it bumped up to keep him, He is familiar with the players and coaches and why go to a school having to rebuild its football program He defiantly stays a UA.

We sent Tosh to see a Cali WR. Granted, it's not someone we are likely to land, but would Saban put Tosh on the the road if he thought he was gone?

Who does tASB think would be a homerun hire at DC? Who would be on your "meh" list? (I know, I know, trust Saban and all that...)

I would be ok with promoting Tucker but would really like to see Pruitt come back to keep top recruits coming in .

BOL is reporting Saban has seemingly narrowed his DC choices down to Pruitt and Tucker.

They also say Pruitt and Saban have had initial discussions regarding him taking the position.

I don't want Pruitt, would be ok with Tucker.

Homerun would be Buddy Ryan.

I'm no insider or guru but it is easy to see that Pruitt greatly improved FSU and UGA's defenses as their DC. I don't know what kind of person he is, just the message board fodder that's he's done this or that. The X-factor with him as the hire as we all know is he is an excellent recruiter. While I've been thrilled with what Mel Tucker has done with our DBs and think he would be a great DC, but I'm not sure how I feel about his recruiting prowess. I remember reading a story on al.com that was talking about how someone recognized Tucker at a gas station and he acted like he didn't care for the attention at all. Like Pruitt, I know nothing about Tucker, but it seems like Pruitt has that bigger personality that helps on the recruiting trail. Just my two cents, which is worth little
