So take this with a huge grain of salt, but some "insider" (I truly don't think this guy has every tried to be one in the past) over on BOL is claiming we will give a look at Coffeyville Community College Offensive Coordinator, and former Mississippi State WR coach, Angelo Mirandi for our OC position should Kiffin leave.

Here's everything he posted about Mirando:
I wonder what that's all about?
He didn't actually provide a link.

Some talk here in Kansas with Angelo Mirandi and Bama. He is Offense Coord for Coffeville Community College
quote:
This was the kid that Miss Stage hung out to dry and take the fall several years ago. Word from my buddy who was there today and talking to other coaches was he had a nice visit from Bama. Word is his offense is impressive and that he will be a head coach one day. Just spreading the word brothers. Thought y'all would like to know
quote:
In Angelo's first year at Coffeyville in 2014, the Ravens offense led the Jayhawk Conference in scoring with 578 points (48.2 ppg). The Ravens were second in the league in yards gained per game and were second in both rushing and passing yards.
quote:
His head coach and D coordinator give him incredible praise. Said it is a nightmare to defend. Said in their words, this kid is special and with the ability to work under Saban he could be a head coach by 40. They said he got screwed by MSU and had to leave D 1 coaching for a few years. That penalty is over.
I wonder what that's all about?

Here is a link. It is fast paced. They ran 90+ plays in this game. Possessed the ball for 31 minutes. Play every 19.5 seconds

From a true "insider" on BOL regarding our next DC:
quote:
Muschamp. ASSUMING he doesn't get USCe gig. Not concrete, but is the leader in the clubhouse. Things change constantly, but this is the most confident I've been.

If Grady posts on BOL you listen.

As of last night, all signs point to Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp being the next head coach at South Carolina. Muschamp interviewed with South Carolina brass in Charlotte from what I have been told. I was told it was as much a meeting as it was an interview in the sense that preliminary discussions had already taken place. Muschamp laid out his specific plan, including the staff he believes he can bring, how he would attack the recruiting end of things and, of course, what he would do differently offensively this time around.
We have talked about some of the staff possibilities, including coaches like Travaris Robinson, Ellis Johnson, Lance Thompson Tracy Rocker, Burton Burns and Bobby Bentley. Kurt Roper and Major Applewhite have been mentioned as possible offensive coordinator possibilities. Robinson would likely need the defensive coordinator title to take the job, as he has been offered Maryland’s defensive coordinator spot and could get a similar offer at Auburn. I think it would take at least assistant head coach title for Johnson to join the staff.
Thompson and Burns are both close to the retirement benefit threshold in the state of Alabama and that could prove to be an obstacle. I got the impression it could be more of an issue with Burns than Thompson, but I have also been told Muschamp has strong contingency plans if one or both decline.
I can also tell you Muschamp also called former Gamecock star running back Marcus Lattimore on Thursday evening and the two reportedly had a good conversation. While they did not discuss specifics, Muschamp did make it clear to Lattimore that he would have an opportunity to be part of his staff at South Carolina if he is indeed named head coach.
I have heard mixed things on when the hiring could be announced if finalized. There was some internal push to try to get it announced before the conference championship games tomorrow, but that may not be feasible. If not, it could be Sunday or Monday. I would anticipate more information leaking out as the day goes on today.

Yeah, that one really baffled me. Why would he leave?

A promotion to OC?

Unless Boom literally can't get anyone else, I doubt Burns is being offered anything other than a "lateral" position.
He's a 63 year old who has been a lifer collegiately as a RB coach, has only been an OC on the HS level in the early 90s. Muschamp probably wants him for his ties to the Carolinas and Louisiana.
Then again, it is Boom, he is horrible at OC hires

Apparently Smart told the players that he will stay on through the playoffs. I saw it on Twitter so can someone post the link or quote?

Kirby Smart is expected to be named UGA head coach at 12:30 today. No press conference today.

"It's an honor and privilege to return home to the University of Georgia and my home state," said Smart in a statment. "I'm deeply appreciative of the faith President Morehead, Greg McGarity and the Athletic Board Executive Committee have demonstrated in asking me to lead one of the truly great college football programs in the country. I also want to thank Coach Saban. I have been fortunate to spend 11 seasons with him as my mentor and have learned a tremendous amount from him as a coach and teacher. I'm honored and excited for the opportunity at Georgia and promise high energy, effort every day, and hard work every minute on the part of all our coaches, staff and student-athletes."

Any new info on the DC Replacement?

Nothing that I've seen. You would think that if Kirby planned on keeping Pruitt, it would have been announced already.
That is one of the dominos that we are waiting for IMO. I'd imagine that we hire from within if we don't get Pruitt.

I don't like uga taking Glen

Yeah, but Glen is being offered some kind of on the field job at UGA. Can't blame him for taking it.

Durkin with a home run, trying to shut down the Maryland/DC area.
AAR holds a lot pull there as a former HS HC...

Its a conspiracy... the other programs have launched a full-on divide and conquer strategy to topple the Saban regime.
That being said, some folks are saying Kiffin will be hanging around for another year. Cristobal is still out there recruiting heavily as well.
