I just can't see how someone so enamored with his job like CKS would already have details like that worked out with the SECCG coming up and the possibility of another title. Not saying he wouldn't take the gig, but releasing that information a week before title games would give SABAN a sad banana face.

Even UGA players see it.

Some dude from BOL said that Kirby could be announced as head coach at UGA on Tuesday, and that he will take Napier and Cochran with him. Napier would be his OC.

He also said that Jeremy Pruitt will be retained at UGA due to the players campaigning for him. Smart also likes him. The one thing that contradicts this info is that Pruitt has not been on the road to see recruits yet. Some speculation that the UGA brass is holding him back from recruiting because he won't be retained.

If we promote Davis to DC could we snag O from LSU to take over our DL. Gets players fired up and can definitely recruit.

Recruiting/coaching related:

With Eason and Cleveland being early enrolls. They stated a new coach has to be in by DEC 11th to keep them per interview with Dawgnation.

This may be where the rush to name a new coach is coming from. Would really suck to not have Smart for the playoffs.

Also, AJC is reporting that Smart and Mullen are the top two candidates for the UGA job. Surprised Herman isn't up there for them.

I think Smart would be taken over Mullen. Alum and has built a lot of relationships through recruiting in GA.

The relationships aspect makes sense, however uga's biggest problems now lie with offense, not defense, and defense will be the least of their worries so long as Pruitt is there.

I don't think Napier could fix their offensive woes, and I'm not sure who else Smart would hire as OC.

If Kirby does not leave this time, he has been promised the keys to the Cadillac in a few years.

This affects the UGA coaching search, so I'll post it here

I think most of us Georgia fans are all in for Kirby at this point. While we talked shite about the possibility for a couple years, when faced with it, it just makes sense.

Except for a lack of HC experience, everything lines up perfectly.

-He's a graduate so you know the chances of him bailing for another job are very slim
-He has incredible recruiting ties to the southeast, especially Georgia and south GA in particular
-He's coached at a championship level and knows what it takes to win, other than just from the X's and O's perspective
-He's the best chance Georgia has to retain the majority of the recruiting class

From the UGA board:

quote:

the "insider" at Rivals just posted this....

The $$$ and Pres want Kirby and Muschamp.
AD turd ball wants Mullen.
no way in the world CJP comes back.
I think CJP name was used as a negotiating play by Kirby. Nothing more

I can not stress this enough our AD is a complete Turd.
I think we get Kirby and Champ.

the $$$ and Pres are not happy with how McGarity is handling any of this.

Dasher confirmed the $$$ here is Leebern.

Please get Mullen. Please get Mullen. Please get Mullen.

It would be an interesting combo with Kirby as HC to bring in Muschamp. No way I see that working. Kirby would be to hands on like Saban seems to be and Muschamp I do not think would work well in that setup.

The melt would be great to see on the plains though.

Why are they so worried about a DC, with Kirby, I would want to know his plans for OC. Never a worry about the defense.

We're more worried about retaining Pruitt than anything. He's the key to holding this recruiting class together and he's turned our defense around. Unless there's some weird bad blood/internal issues we don't know about (that very well could be the case), Smart would be stupid to not make keeping Pruitt a priority.

Dom Capers will remain my dream DC with Saban but alas GB keeps doing well and he is the highest paid DC in football

Saban always has connections in the NFL ranks so keep an eye on staffs getting fired in a few weeks

I could see Rob Ryan getting a phone call, or perhaps the Chargers DC when they get canned. Both 3-4 guys

Speaking of coaching changes, someone on the UGA board is trying to say Saban wants to leave Bama

And some are trying that tired "the expectations are too high" shtick, despite the fact that no one has higher expectations than Saban

He had Capers in Miami, and said he regretted hiring him over promoting Muschamp in 2007.

Rob Ryan has consistently shown himself be nothing more than a position coach. Living off his name.

Hey Mag this isn't the thread, but I saw you post something a while back that Barnett wouldn't (or maybe you said maybe, idk now) be the QB unless Kiffin was still here. I imagine it'll be a battle, but I guess I'm wondering the thought process behind that. Does Saban prefer someone else?
