I was going to see him at a festival in Atl. Covid canceled the festival.

I've seen CNN International on several occasions over the decades. If all I knew about America came from CNN International I would hate it, too. CNNI makes American CNN look like a far right network.

but this number is total bullshite

This doesn’t take into account people that were searching for a long time and have since given up

Well, yes. The Unemployment # has always been a foolish metric. It counts the number of people looking for jobs that cannot find a job. If one is not looking, then one is not unemployed.

I believe a better # is the employment participation rate:
quote:

U.S. labor force participation rate stands at 61.8%. This key economic indicator measures the percentage of the civilian noninstitutional population (ages 16 and older) who are either employed or actively looking for work.

The overall % of 61.8 is historically low which would be bad (and I've seen it reported as bad). However, the key demographic:
quote:

Prime Age: For workers ages 25 to 54, the rate is much higher, typically hovering around 83.9%
is at, IIRC, a historic high.

FWIW.

a poll which shows Pratt ahead of Basura..

I assume the two top candidates have run-off. I would also presume Basura's(a socialist democrat) voters would support Bass and vice versa.

Either way, Pratt can't get near 40% in a run-off.

Seems to me the Media is trying to make it a horse race where there is none.

Whoa, They're 65+?

Yeah, me too. For Italy or Europe (and mobility issues) think cruise. The river cruise lines deal with mobility-challenged passengers every day (and make it nice for them).

We're meeting friends this week for a Rhone River cruise. They pre-tripped in Rome this weekend … and were very happy with the golf cart tour of the City. May eliminate some of the walking in Rome.

I assume it's not a booze cruise?

None of the European river cruises (including Viking) are booze cruises. There's usually a couple of folks that over indulge on each voyage regularly but it will not be a Caribbean cruise or Carnival like.

History, Food, some local music.

Since most of Europe was built along the waterways river cruising is an excellent way to go.

Two years ago I did a Silversea ocean cruise along the west coast from Portugal to England (including Bordeaux). Bordeaux is very cool. As Geauxpurple posted, it's like a mini-Paris.

This. Buffett practically owns the trains that ship oil from Canada into U.S.

Cui bono. Always follow the money.
Weekly staff meeting on Thursday morning … guess I'll just throw some shite and see what sticks to the wall ; ).
Years ago it was "Germans." I posted the definition on Urban Dictionary with cred to TD and had a good ride with it.

Today it's tl;dr.

Really, really good wine … but they drink it all inside their own borders (so they're not known for it).

There it is. I used their, they're and there  .

I currently have this same plan … except Spectrum is only giving me 300mbs per their speed test. To OP's point, Bait and Switch.

The plan is to call them during an LSU baseball game so it won't matter how long I have to wait.

Transfer all TSA agents to ICE. I think it's funded till 2028. Yes, it wouldn't shorten that timeline but TSA would return to work w pay immediately.
Carolla's guest appearance on the All-In podcast is an excellent listen:

Men and Women are not the same. Maternal instinct guides women to be much more protective. Once entrenched into positions of leadership this leads to the over regulation of society by government i.e. "If this rule saves one child … ."

Of course, AC didn't say it as euphemistically as I just did  .

I battle this concept locally on a weekly basis.
I wasn't aware Entergy served anything in Covington.
With the adult sons living out of state Mrs. Fat Man sends them and their families King Cakes. She now buys the KC, packages it herself and then ships it … a little more effort but she gets the right cake, it arrives in better condition and since we're shipping 4, it saves a few bucks on shipping.

Perhaps a friend or family member would do the same for you?
Thanks. The savings helps offset the cost of my Tiger Droppings Premium Membership.

He had a one hour sit-down on the All-In Podcast last week or so. Despite what you might think of the hosts it's a good listen.
