Advanced analytics. It’s why they all look at their wrists each pitch, they know the tendencies of every hitter and have instructions for each one.
I believe it is way more advanced analytics than that, depends on hitter, pitcher, and situation.

I’m fairly certain the announcer on Sunday said something about a shift being on due to 2 strikes and likely an offspeed pitch coming.
Cannot believe I didn’t remember this last night, I blame getting old and beer.
2001. My freshman year. My most hated team, I dispised Tommy Tubberville.

Last game of the year, delayed due to a hurricane IIRC.

Revenge game, first home game after the infamous cigar game.

Their kicker came on at half time with our band still performing, they walked right over him and almost fought.

We rushed the field, the win sent us to the SEC Championship, where we beat a heavily favored Tennessee team. Then the Sugar Bowl to beat Illinois, ending the season in the top 10.

The beginning of the golden age of LSU football.

That’s what I think when I think about Auburn.
This isn’t what I look for in a wife.

You have to use tangent (opposite / adjacent). And the fact that the two sides of the square are equal, we can use X to represent the length of all 4 sides of the square

The tangent of the smaller triangle is X/5. The tangent of the bigger triangle is 20/X.

Solve for X: X/5 = 20/X.

X is 10 (each side of the square). The area is 100.

Again, who actually cares if your wife can solve this?!
I think our generation’s regret will be how much time they spent staring at a screen instead of interacting with their children.

It is shocking to me to watch people be “with their children” while being completely absorbed in their social media and not actually being present.

For example, we have “movie nights” with the kids and my wife spends half the movie texting or doom scrolling, despite me constantly calling her out on it. She’s “there” but not present, and I think she will regret that one day.

So to answer your question: be present and make the most of every moment you have with them, that moment will never happen again and might be your last.

Useful response, thanks.

We live a couple of hours away so we are narrowing the list while we are in New Orleans.

Big purchase for us. Will take our time, but would prefer not getting trapped at a dealership for an entire day.

Haven't had to use this guide in ~10 years, only a 1 year bump - thought it would be longer!

Wife wants a new car this year so we will be test driving this weekend with plans to buy in the early summer. I know power has shifted to the dealers over the last few years with the lack of inventory, but seems to be shifting back, so hoping we can utilize some of the "Will Cover" guide to get a good deal.

We are preparing/budgeting and doing our research on the cars, so for now I am just looking for any updated tips on going to do test drives at a few places....I am absolutely dreading it as I hate the whole car buying process. We will bring copies of our driver's licenses and be clear on our buying timeline (So we hopefully can get in and out), but curious if there is anything else we can do to prepare and make this as painless as possible.

Thanks in advance!
I actually first learned to drive a stick with my grandfather over there, but that was in a small town and I have no interest in trying to navigate the motorways or those giant roundabouts while trying to remember to stay on the left.

My family now live in the Sutton on the Sea area, I’m told there’s a train straight from Manchester to Cleethorpes, where they will pick us up.

Final question, is there any benefit ordering tickets on the national rail site vs. train line or one of the others? Is train line like Expedia?

Just doing a quick comparison, train line is $182.93 vs £127.50 (~$158.42).

Thanks again for the help everyone!
Thank you everyone, glad I asked.

Not the greatest time to check Old Trafford off the bucket list, but hopefully they will show up.
Hey everyone,

I will be going to England in the spring and am looking for some information on the easiest way to get around, while not blowing the budget. I will be taking my family (Wife, 2 kids) and we are going to London for tourist stuff, Manchester for a soccer game, the east coast to visit some extended family, and then back to London to fly home.

Train seems to be a good option, and the kids will probably enjoy the novelty of it. But I wanted to check with the experts here because if I am looking at this right, it will be 500+ pounds for the 4 of us.

Is this the right pass I need? (2 kids, 2 adults, 3 days - 1 month, flexible, standard class): LINK

Is there a better way to get around or is train going to be my best option? We will be hauling suitcases, but think we can manage it.

Anything else to be aware of or insights? Thanks in advance!
Not priced out, but I would much rather spend my money elsewhere. But they don’t care. We are witnessing the full monetization of CFB.

How much does the average fan spend on a season ticket? It is dwarfed by the corporations that own the boxes. To maximize profits, that is who they will continue to cater to.

How much does the average non-ticket holder spend in a year on their team? $100 bucks on gear? Probably less than the average gambler loses each game. That is who they will continue to cater and market to.

This is why they don’t care if the average fan goes away, they built the foundation, but now they are extracting as much money as they possibly can while trying to maintain the illusion this is still CFB “for the fans”.

It’s an entertaining game, I will still tune in for 1.5 hours of game and 2.5 hours of commercials like a good sheep. But I will never feel the passion I used to, which essentially makes CFB as I remember it dead, it’s just something on the tv if I have nothing better to do, and it’s won’t ever come back.
We have mountain bikes, easier for the hills in neighborhood and trails when we go camping.

Seeing kids on any type of bike is a good thing though, most around here ride hoverboards or other things with motors. It’s shocking how many 10+ year olds in our neighborhood can’t ride a bike.

Feeling it too, guess it is just mid life blues. Don’t have an answer but here are a few thoughts.

I set two really “hard” goals this year to work towards, I did a dry January and set a goal of doing an Olympic length triathlon in under 3 hours. The dry January was a great reset, and the triathlon training took up a bunch of time and broke up the routine. I did it in September and miss the drive it gave me to get up and just train, or to squeeze in an hour at night after kids in bed instead of TV.

I volunteer, which is just mindless manual labor (food pantry) but is very humbling and a good way to tune out for a few hours.

I try to think of work as a means to the end, just get it done as best I can then try to be invested in the time and things I get to do with my family. Not everyone has the opportunities I do, even though it’s easy to focus on all the people that have more than me.

I like the gratitude journal thing, may give that a try. Headspace is a great app for meditating, signed up this year and $70/year been worth it.
Feels more like college baseball in a way.

Survive the regular season while the team meshes, hope you make post season, hope you get on a roll at the end.

The programs/coaches that will be able to mesh quicker and avoid key injuries are the ones that will win.

re: 2024 Fall Garden Thread

Impressive stuff in this thread, garden dojo is awesome and something to inspire to....thought my planters was a big undertaking

I have received my seeds! Green Magic Broccoli and Danvers 126 half long carrots! As suggested in this thread, I got some "cowopots" for the broccoli and I also received my soil analysis, progress!

More questions:
My soil analysis has 1lb nitrogen / 1k SF, 0 phosphorus, 2.1lbs potassium. 50lbs/1k of lime, pre-plant. Any fertilizer with that ratio the board would recommend? Similar question for side dress, recommended 1-0-0 ratio

I am going to try to stagger planting of the seeds, but I was going to attempt something like every 7-10 days, four consecutive times, or something so I am not just overwhelmed with a large yield at once. I have 200 carrot seeds and 100 broccoli seeds, so was just going to do my best to do 25% each time. It seems doable, but a fine needle the thread (Planting after it is too hot, harvest before it is too cold), so I may lose some but I think my family will be able to actually use more vs. trying to give it away. Any pointers or advice before I get started? I have the first batch of Broccoli in cow pots and plan do the next batch next week.
Great info everyone, thank you. I’ve emailed them to see if they have additional information or race package they can send; hopefully they can answer some of my questions.

I’ve seen this mentioned in a few places, the bike I got from FB marketplace came with tubeless tires.

Should I be planning to carry a spare tire and the tools to change it? I have no idea where I would put it unless I bring a camel back.

I was honestly just going to hope for the best and pray I didn’t get a flat in the 40k I had to ride.
