They have been hitting regularly since school started. If we had an indoor practice facility, they could take infield regardless of the weather.

Great time of year for an LSU sports fan, football, baseball scrimmages, and basketball exhibitions. Plus the weather is getting cooler.

Thursday 6:00, Friday 6:00, Sunday 4:00
Scrimmages are free to attend and gate opens 15 minutes prior to first pitch. No concessions are available but fans can bring food and drink into the stadium.

I was standing about 15 feet away when Deuce slammed the ball into the goal. I was impressed that the driveway style goal held up!

I saw him in the ops building prior to Saturday’s game and he was walking fine without a boot or brace. When asked he said he feels fine.

Santarelli seemed not as tall as I expected but probably because of his width. There’s no fat on that kid.

He didn’t talk very much so I will have to wait till I see him at the scrimmages to get a reading on him. He was asked about the Louisiana weather and said the humidity was what he was not used to.

Curland has the same look as Gavin Dugas just a little heavier. Coach J said his fielding percentage was .980 if I recall. He and Milam should be very good up the middle, IMO.
Santarelli looks like a six foot tall bodybuilder.
Wachs is long and looks speedy. He has some pop as well.
The freshmen look fit but could use some weight training.
This is just a first look at them in street clothes. I’ll get a better evaluation during fall scrimmages.

Baseball Coach’s Committee meeting

First meeting this fall was well attended and informative. Met six new players, three freshmen: Lucas Nawrocki, Braxton Beaty, Dominic Santarelli and three transfers: Jason Wachs, Cade Curland and Landon Hood.
Coach Johnson talked about rule changes for the 2027 season including the use of ABS system for challenging ball/strike calls in all games. Other potential changes discussed were the increase in base size and limiting pickoff throws to two which are not in effect for the upcoming season.
All fall scrimmages will be on the same schedule every weekend: Thursday at 6:00, Friday at 6:00 and Sunday at 4:00. The first scrimmage will be October 8.
I hope to see you baseball fans at the Box this fall, there should be very competitive games this year.
