Kentucky has the tradition of everyone standing together and singing "My Old Kentucky Home" on Senior Day. There certainly seems to be a lot of reference to "darkies".
The second verse is never sung at the end of games and the modern version replaces "darkies" with "people." Good try though.

Mississippi schools
- don't have very good athletics
- not very good academically
- low state population so not much TV footprint

Don't worry about it. Back in '07 when Tubby Smith left, there were rumors that Billy Donovan had bought a farm in Lexington. Obviously turned out to be nothing, even though message boards and fan sites turned it into "rock hard" evidence that he was coming to UK. Wouldn't believe a word of it until he signs papers.

They should just skip the BS and move it to Rupp.
re: If for some unholy reason the SEC were to break up where would everyone go?

Two big questions:
1. Would ACC accept instate foes from current members? The SEC has a gentleman's agreement that no other instate teams will be allowed in. If the ACC has the same, then UK, Georgia, USC, and Florida all wouldn't be options for the ACC
2. How much does the BIG actually care about academics? If they require all schools to be members of the AAU, then that eliminates everyone except Missouri, Vandy, A&M, and Florida.
If neither of those are issues I think it would go like this:
Alabama- independent
Arkansas- big 12
Auburn- big 12
Florida- ACC
Georgia- ACC
Kentucky- Big 10
LSU- independent
Ole Miss- big 12
MS St- big 12
Mizzou- Big 10
USC- ACC
UT- ACC
A&M- Big 12
Vandy- Big 10
I think the schools that would be most endangered of being demoted to a lower conference would be the Mississippi schools and Vandy.

No team in the country was going to beat Alabama that night. By now everyone knows what happens when you give Saban a month to prepare.
I think all of you are underestimating ND. They have two AA on the d-line, went undefeated last year and only lost two key players. Yes, those players were a AA linebacker and their starting QB, but they have the number one rated LB recruit stepping into Te'o's position and a QB that has played in 29 games. If we're talking a regular season game where each team has one week to prepare, I think ND would be competitive against all of the SEC. They aren't the same ND team from the last twenty years. Kelly is for real and is going to have ND consistently in the top 10 from this point forward.

I've been to USC's tailgate for a big game (Oregon) and it does not belong in Top 5, or Top 10, or Top 20.

07 vs LSU in OT. LSU is on offense and has a fourth and 1, UK up 7. Stop them and we beat the #1 ranked team in the country. We did and rushing the field was amazing, especially after the heartbreak of the bluegrass miracle.

We have had a non southern school from day 1 of the conference being formed. Kentucky is just as Yankee as Missouri or any other future hypothetical members. So it would not be that unusual.
Just idiotic. Louisville and northern KY near Cincinnati are northern. The rest of the state and especially Lexington is southern. That's why so much of the state rejects Louisville and UL. They just don't get it.

Come on it's UT orange and it's not even close.
Best besides homer pick of UK is UGA. Love the red and black. Also agree that UK should ditch the new look unis and go back to the original straight blue and white.

re: With all this talk about 5 conferences?

Why do people think that the Big 12 would be a superconference over the ACC? I hate the ACC but they have more members and they have a bigger geographic footprint. It would also make more sense geographically for the Pac 12 to poach four teams from the Big 12, the SEC and BIG to take two each, and the ACC to take whatever is leftover.
Personally I want UNC and Virginia Tech for the SEC.
The biggest question is whether or not ND joins a conference. If they do, they join the BIG, which then adds one more team to get to 16. Then the SEC follows suit, followed by the other conferences.
If the four super conferences are the Pac 12, BIG, SEC and Big 12, the Pac 12 would have to find four random western teams to add and the Big 12 would go from the plains over SEC and BIG territory to the coast. This might work for the big 12 if there was a east/west concept, but 9/10 teams are in the west with only WV in the east. They would have to kick out a team or just screw one over by putting it in the east.
I think it would look like one of these two options:
BIG- current 14 members + UVA + ND or Duke/UNC
SEC- current 14 members + Virginia Tech + UNC/NCST
Big 12- current 10 members + FSU + Miami + Clemson + leftover NC member (excluding WF) + Georgia Tech + 2nd NC member (including WF) or Pitt/Syracuse
Pac 12- current 12 members + Boise St. + BYU + San Diego St + UNLV
(Cool idea: Big 12 gives TCU to Pac 12 and then adds another ACC team for equal 8 team east/west divisions)
OR
SEC- Current 14 members + Oklahoma + Texas (if aTm allows it)
BIG- Current 14 members + OK ST + ND/Kansas
Pac 12- Current 12 members + TCU + KSU + 2/4 of Kansas/Baylor/Texas Tech/Iowa State
ACC- Current 14 + West Virginia + Cincy or Uconn
