I don't think he wrote thesis on how to be a socialist but he lived like one. In fact, his tract was very similar to Jones' but Jones had more means and got in bed with the San Fran Liberal politician scene (Harvey Milk and Willie Brown, yes that Willie Brown) whereas Manson was just a communal free love junkie. Seeing things for the first time. They have some great tunes. It's easy to not like Springsteen because he is the most overrated on the planet but it's tough when their music is very good.
