I’ve been visiting my dad this weekend up near our family property. Last night told the wife at home I wasn’t planning on hunting this morning. Woke up to pee and couldn’t go back to sleep so figured why not come and sit in the stand. The thought of a deer in front of the camera (dead batteries) was eating at me. Got set up a little late (6:20) and jumped 3 coming in. One last sit on a chilly morning.

Does showed up as scheduled. I got jittery and rushed a shot. Perfect broadside at 35 yards. Skimmed the back of a big one. Stupid on my part.

Sitting in a ground blind along a trail. Been seeing a group of does on it the past few evenings on the camera. Target buck has gone MIA and this is probably my last hunt so unless it’s a yearling or small buck, it’s getting shot at. Good luck baws.

We don’t kill many where I hunt and last weekend I was lucky enough to get one. Plucked it clean and planned on cooking it today. I found a few recipes online to pot roast it. One being stuffing with apples and using chicken broth.

Any tips or tricks yall recommend?
Does anyone know the condition of 190 between Opelousas and Baton Rouge?
FIL just let me know his diesel Generac 50000, or whatever it’s called, tank is full and he is good to go. He lives ~ 8 miles from the gulf in vermilion Parish. Mil said she saw on Facebook they will get it bad. He said neighbors told him possible power loss. “Don’t worry, I stopped and got my beer and wine”
This dude has been thinking of this post all day. Point and laugh.

Decided to duck hunt this morning with the pup, even though there aren’t many ducks. The deer stand I want to hunt needs a near perfect N/NNW wind and it didn’t have it this morning. Of course a shooter buck is at the camera in front of the stand right now. This afternoon he better watch out!

Been getting does on cameras at the feeders. Plenty of fresh rubs and scrapes around so the bucks are here, just camera shy. Chose a ladder stand a 100 or so yards from the feeder hoping to catch a cruising buck. Put out some Tinks 69 in a few mock scrapes. Never used it before. Season is almost over so figured why not. Good luck baws!

It's my understanding that habitat improvements up north and degrading habitat down here are the main culprits

That is what a big portion of the shortstopping argument is. More habitat up north keeps the ducks there. To sum it up: waterfowl fly south due to cold and lack of food. Some all the way to the Gulf, while others tolerate the weather when they find a good food source.

The habitat in Louisiana is changing. What used to be rice fields is now sugar cane. Not only is that not duck food, a sugar cane field wont flood like a cut bean, cotton, or other field will after a big rain. No water = no ducks.

Ducks don't make it this far south like they did decades ago. Do I think there is enough habitat up north to hold enough ducks to affect a whole state of duck hunters, hard to say. Personally I think the duck population is low. Why else would we have hard freezes, snow, ice, etc and still see no ducks? Up north is frozen solid in those conditions. Birds have to eat.

Ribeye and a baked potato.
Who is the shipping company? I know most (Amazon, UPS) take a picture of it delivered and it’s upload it to tracking. Never heard of your situation.

Sitting over a food plot. Buddy of mine killed an 8 point yesterday that was chasing a doe hard. Not far from where I am sitting now. Let’s hope more does get hot.
Good luck baws.

How can we keep Green a Tiger as long as possible

Wilson doesn’t really give a flip about being HC. He knows it’s temporary with zero responsibility. TD could call a better game.

He’s a very average coach with responsibility. No care to hold a HC title
