re: cleaning dryer duct vent

Posted by PerceivedReality on 8/10/25 at 6:57 pm to
Remove the mesh screen on the outside. Also open the dryer front and check the internal vent ducting. We did a new build that’s almost 5 years old now. Internal duct in the dryer wasn’t sealed from the factory. Lent slowly escaped and got into the heating element tube. Thank GOD I was home bc when that sumbitch ignited it was like a tender box.

Also, make sure you have a a couple fire extinguishers ready to go in your house at all times.

Repair guy said he had always heard stories of dryer fires but had never seen one in 13 years.

this... i spent 4 years in North Dakota. It's a dry cold (no humidity). and you acclimate quickly. 32 degrees is shorts and a long sleeve t shirt weather. don't get me wrong it does get cold, but it's 100% manageable.
my wife is a dr. (medical). has a nose ring, not septum, and lots of tattoos. there are more than several female physicians in her practice that have nose rings and tattoos. i have a ton of tattoos (no earings) and no one looks at us differently when we go anywhere. we do get some occational second takes if we go eat at the country club. but thats a bunch of old rich fricks mostly
ONS and caffeine put me in the hospital. I was doing a can of 8mg per day and several cups of coffee and a monster. Took a long time but my body finally said enough and I had a small seizure episode and collapsed. I slowly backed down to a can of 2mg per day and a cup of coffee.

It’s Ellic bro.

Was born and raised in the area. Went to school for a bit with Sam and his brother although they were younger. ETA: Both were d-bags.

It truly is astonishing the shite that goes on in that town and what happens to people who stay there.
Yes it is. Sultan of Brunei is 2nd to the left. Next to Trudeau. You can see the tape on the floor. I hate him more than anyone else but this is stupid when you look at the whole picture

you can find low milage used ones under MSRP.

same for escalade v's
One of my good friends here got shot in the chest. he said he thought a hornet stung him. and he started jumping around like a mad man in the parking lot. it's on video.

wild story, he is an attorney and a hit got put out on him due to his involvement in a case. ex military guy shot him with a 22 from a parking garage across the street. he was bending over to put his briefcase in his car after work. missed his "kill box" in the center of his chest my centimeters. they caught the guy 2-3 months later. still waiting to go to trial but the guy is being held without bond.
To be fair, I’m north of town on Paris Mountain. So we lose power often (hence the generator). Hope y’all keep power today
In Greenville SC and lost power about 45 min ago. Thank Jeebus we are backed up on generator. Dont expect power back til tomorrow at the earliest.
Goddamn you closed minded fricks wouldn’t have a chance with her outside state lines. Good for him. One day you’ll learn hopefully.

Reason #873 I left that shitty arse state.

I am going on one of these next year. Which lodge did you stay at? Any advice? This will be my first trip as well

We have not picked the lodge yet

Still really cheap compared to other cars in that category.

1000%

a low milage 2022 mclaren 720S is fetching $270K minimum. i feel like that is the closest competitor. used 488's are way higher.

not to mention the convenience of availability for service and warranty work if needed
you can only use 550-600 bhp if the car is set up to handle it (from a stop). supposedly this is going to be twin turbo and close to 1,000 at the flywheel.

i expect MSRP to be close to $200,000. there will be a line out the arse to get them and mark up is going to be insane. but i think it will top the equivalent models from mclaren, ferrari, and lambo from a performance standpoint.

i'm exited to see it. good to see the vette competing again.
My wife and I cannot have children unfortunately. and we have tried everything but adoption.

I'm as red as they come and this statement is f*cking stupid.

ETA: i was stupid to trust the tweet and not read the full transcript/context.

My B G.
it's been this way for a over a decade.

i have friend who still lives out there working in the service industry (bartends and guides for Orvis). During covid the residents didn't want anyone to have to leave. So all the seasonal workers had to do was bring proof of their bills to a place they set up downtown and the residents all chipped in and covered everyone's expenses.

it's a different animal in Jackson Hole
I get that but these projects are multi year projects. We are a subcontractor and we do everything we can to insulate ourselves from this. But it’s hard to price the future in estimates on projects like this. We usually include 7% on material escalation. The alternative is going T&M. But most owners won’t accept it. They want the contractor to carry the risk. And this is what happens when that goes south.
When was this thing put out for bid? Years ago? Look at how much materials have gone up. Especially industrial materials for a project this large.

thank you for sharing this. May I ask, did his profession not allow him to continue working in it even at a limited capacity? Like was his role all or nothing?

He was self employed. Dealt in salvage and trucking a lot, but did really well for himself in the late eighties. Would buy physical assets of bankrupt companies in the northeast and flip them in the south. Keep in mind this was before the internet boom and information flow was very limited. So he would go to bank fire sell auctions in Chicago and New York / New Jersey and buy in bulk then split up and sell (for lack of a better term).

When he was done he was done. He sold everything at once. Honestly don’t think he realized how long he was going to be retired.

He thought several times about going back in business in 2008/09 but ultimately decided not to bc of the way and speed business was done. One of his many regrets. But he still wouldn’t have been happy IMO. Would have just added another level of stress to him. He always thought someone was out to screw him and that’s how he operated his whole life. Business and personal.
