How does this work if I had a kid in January of this year? Will I just get it as a lump sum come next year in April when I file taxes or can I sign up to get the $300 per month?
I was able to get FORW through vanguard. However I could not get into CBBT. Not happy about that. Tried a few times and it kept telling me something I didn't fully understand. Still pretty new to this.
I could not buy any through Vanguard. Kind of surprised me as Ive been able to get other stocks like TSNP through there.

re: Dog has cancer

I had a 6 year old dog diagnosed with cancer. It was either put him down right there or give him a surgery that would give him estimated 6-9 months to live with quality of life. I was pretty devastated and opted to do the surgery as it was my first dog and I just wanted more time. Needless to say, he went downhill quickly and we had to put him down about 2 weeks after the surgery.

In hindsight I would have just put him down at the diagnosis, but I dont regret anything I did. Losing a pet sucks. I feel for you.

Very sorry to hear it. Just lost my lab at 6 years old to bladder cancer. It was my first dog so needless to say, I was devastated and still am pretty broken up about it. Time helps but I'll always feel robbed of the full life he deserved.

Subaru Ascents have options for the middle seat to be captain's chairs. Ive been looking at them lately for my potential next vehicle and I like them a lot.

I really enjoyed Rothenburg, but I don't know how it got on the list of the most beautiful places in the world.

Same here, we happened to stop there on our drive from Frankfurt to Munich for a few hours. I thought it was a cool place but would have never thought to have seen it on that list.

Brings my grand total to 3 from the list. :wah:

For what little BBQ options we have, I agree. Went there and got ribs and smoked wings. Thought it was solid and not terribly priced. I will keep going as they have a lot more on the menu that looked intriguing
Thanks. This seems like a solid plan considering the tax free gains and with the high cost of private schools, anything would help.

As far as your previous questions about savings plans, this is another thing I was wondering as well. Id probably be just putting a monthly amount ($100-200ish) into the K12 and LA Start. This is probably not near enough but I'm just hoping for this to supplement the yearly tuition costs.

As I get more to contribute,I will but retirement comes first for me right now.
I'm about to have my first kid and have been looking into the LA Start program as well. Have a few questions as I've been looking.

Are these better programs than anything I can get through vanguard?

I'm mainly looking to fund something for my kids K-12 as well as college. Are these programs the same or would I need to one for K-12 and one for college?

My husband pays all the bills, except for car insurance (added him to my policy) and my car note, phone, etc. Since I moved into his house, everything was already established in his name. I transfer a set amount of money to him each month because I feel weird about him paying everything. He sticks “my” money into savings. I’m more of a spender, so I appreciate that he’s better at saving. We both buy groceries pretty equally, and run it past each other if we’re buying something more than a couple hundred.

This is basically what me and my wife do and it works for us. She just pays me the difference of bills plus expenses per month and I put it all into savings.

Thought about joint accounts but she doesnt really have a whole lot of input on our finances so figured whats the point. I dont care to know what she is spending her money on as long as she is giving me a certain amount monthly.

Anyone watching this? Sounds like ole Mike had sex in just about every spot imaginable in Neverland

Why don't the Hoyts you know... redecorate that room later on when Julie escapes and why don't they silence the old black man like they silenced everyone else?

Thought the same thing. Seems like the logical thing to do.

I guess were just supposed to assume his wife died naturally but still would have been nice to get some closure there.

Ole Pizz tried to make the ending an artistic character driven ending just like season 1 and let me down again. Kept waiting for something juicy to happen and here I sit longing for more.

re: Ring doorbells on sale

I don't currently have any wiring so my dilemma is if I'd rather get the the Ring 2 or the Nest Hello. Im mostly Google now so if I go wired, gonna get the nest.

Anyone with experience, is it worth it to go with a wired doorbell and pay the additional cost for someone to wire it or is the battery powered Ring 2 close enough in quality for me to just go that route?
Yea my first is due in August as well and Im trying to wrap my head around where all my money is about to go. :wah:

Looks like adding a child to my insurance is right around $250/paycheck. Assuming day care or whatnot will be around $700-1000/month.

I dont see any way Ill be able to max out 401ks / ROTH / HSA. Ill probably just meet the company match for the 401k (5%) and keep maxing out my ROTH.

As far as HSA, Im maxing it right now and will just keep trying to put away as much in it as possible so I can pay for all these doctor visits with pretax money. Wish I would have been putting more into that all these years before.
I have him and Cam Newton and probably going to go Brady. Cant trust Cams shoulder and just hoping for a shootout against the Steelers.

The pace of the show is one of the best parts. Very little time wasted. GoT can set up a battle for a season. Last Kingdom sets up and has the battle in the same episode.

This. I thought Season 3 was the best of the seasons.
Im thinking Im going to have to get me some more. Kicking myself for not getting more when I did at $0.035 now but I was just getting my feet wet.
