re: Eating fish whole

Is this a thing?

What other industry are you an a-hole for entering a business while the business is open?

If you enter any other business and stay around after the hours that they are open, you are an a-hole. How is this so hard to comprehend?

What other type of business do you enter and then stay in the business after the posted open hours?

Whole fish is intimidating to some, but if I ever go a restaurant that has whole fish on the menu, it's what I'm ordering.
quote:

Why? The business is open.

Because you know that your act is causing someone else to have to work late. I didn't say that you couldn't do it, I even said that you could. But, you're being inconsiderate.
quote:

Just about every job I've ever had, going back to being a life guard at the local swim club as a teen, has had the possibility of getting stuck working beyond my scheduled time. What is so special about the service industry that makes yall think they are immune to this?

No one said that service workers stroll out immediately at their closing time. It's understood that you may have some stragglers wrapping up a few minutes after closing time.

But, if you are a customer and go into a restaurant 5 minutes before closing and expect to be able to sit down for an hour long dinner, you are an a-hole

quote:

Oh so now working hours don't matter because it's inconvenient for your argument

Flexibility around expected working hours for a salaried professional should definitely be different than those of a service worker. If this is a strange concept to you, then I don't know what to tell you.
quote:

It's not my job to know his work hours

Well, that's a bit different than a restaurant with posted hours then, isn't it?

quote:

It was an email sent at 4:12 in the afternoon btw and actually was kind of important.

If it's important, and you work in a professional field, that's completely different than a college kid working in the service industry for tips. Holding a service worker to the same working standards as a college educated professional is a bit of a reach

This is a novel take
quote:

Don't agree with this either. My work hours at my company don't perfectly align with other people's at other companies. I actually had a PM try to tell me he didn't see something because an email was sent outside his work hours as if he wasn't telling me this on a smart phone. That guy is the actual a-hole

If you know his typical work hours and you're reaching out for something that isn't urgent, you're still the a-hole.
The only fast food I've had in the past 5+ years are very simple things that can't really be messed up. Chicken from Chick-fil-a or Canes, ice cream from Sonic, and sliders from Smalls a few times.

I also wouldn't get a customized order at a fast food restaurant (other than naked tenders at Canes).
You can do it, but it makes you an a-hole :dunno:

For the folks saying that other jobs work outside of their typical hours, if someone is making you do that for a non-urgent issue, then that person is also an a-hole.

Do you know which of those barrels are any good?

Unfortunately no, I trust the guy who picked the two barrels that I’ve bought from, and he’s also the guy who stated that these barrels are hit or miss.

Where do you get these buff-turkeys? I’d like to try one. Secondary market the only way?

I’m part of a group who has picked 4 of them. I only bought 2/4. The two I have are really good, but I’ve heard some barrels aren’t. Augusta has 2 15 year Buff-Turkeys on their website currently, they are $320 MSRP, which is roughly the going rate for these bottles.

ETA: I should clarify, msrp is roughly $300 give or take, secondary is up over 2k for some of these SiBs.

Speaking of Stagg, this Buckner’s is 15 year (and 364 days) Buff-Turkey at 137 proof.

It has a lot of the fruit notes that I get on batch 15 Stagg, but obviously with much more age on it. Also, has a watermelon candy note which is unique.

I don't know what tuna you're buying, but all that I buy list the entire can as a serving. Otherwise, what a waste of an attempt to get protein.

This. I’ve only ever seen 1 can per serving, and it’s usually less than 200 calories.

You would've got destroyed for this take in the Shai MVP thread. Jokic PER was higher than SGA's by about the same amount Clark is above Reese.

Okay? Everyone knows PER is a very flawed stat, if they don’t know that, then they haven’t been paying attention.

My only suggestion is don't make the $800 mistake I did and buy a Green Mountain pellet grill. It wound up at the road to be scrapped after about 10 cooks and parts being replaced.

I now just have a simple old Traeger and it works just fine

That's unfortunate, mine is 7 years old and the only issue I've ever had was that the temp probe stopped working. I just bought a thermapen and all is good.

She is better than 95% of her competition.

She is closer to Caitlin Clark than Clark is to Aja Wilson.

2024 PER Ratings
Angel Reese - 17.6
Caitlin Clark - 18.8

Aja Wilson - 34.9

I don't watch women's basketball at all, so I don't know how good these players are in comparison to one another, but PER is an awful metric to use when comparing basketball players who play different positions. For instance, Daniel Gafford has a higher PER than LeBron. PER is a flawed statistic that overvalues "bigs".

Which beaches did you see muddy water? Maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve yet to see any on Maui and I’ve visited several times and I’ve been to a lot of beaches.

Yeah, I haven't encountered muddy water, but I've only been to Oahu and Kauai. The Oahu beaches were much nicer than Kauai.
