Is LSU overlooking this game? With so much BCS hype, it sure seems....

...as if there may be many who are - starting with the oddsmakers. 13 1/2? 14? That's a lot of points there.
We've always had a helluva good time with our Tigah friends when they come to Athens over the years, and the same hospitality when we go there.
I just hope we can stay in the dome with ya'll. You're obviously too damn good.

Ummm...not this year, I'm afraid.
It'll take a better running game, and a better tackling secondary (they suck right now).

We had a great time at the UGA-LSU game yesterday. With our traditional tailgate spot near the DawgWalk, our group of 30-50 was liberally sprinkled with LSU folks.
Our friends brought crawfish julienne. Of course, the rest of us finished it, and RAVED at how delicious it was. The the muffalattas came out, more raves, so we had to reply with homemade BBQ pork (they raved about it), and finished with all kinds of desserts.
LSU is always the best home game for us. The people make the difference. They like to "pahrty" with us, and we ALWAYS have a great time. And they were courteous after the game, gracious as always.
As for the game, we found out later that the celebration penalty was announced by the SID's department as being thrown on Green for "excessive celebration" after the TD. Nothing more - no mouth, no symbolic hand or arm movements - just celebration.
We blamed the refs.
By the end of this week, we will have gotten over the pain of the loss, realized our shortcomings, and geared up for Tennessee. While our penalty hurt us more than LSU's due to the time remaining on the clock, and the fact that, after the return, LSU was already in Field Goal position, we were lacking in our coverage. Our gang-break KO coverage is CRAP, and it never confuses teams. That's what caused the Illegal procedure penalty for too few men on one side of the ball.
We had it there for the taking, and ya'll took it back. For that, we're in pain.
And the worst thing is, we don't play again for another, what, 5 years?
Kick the jorts back to sewer city (AKA Gainesville). Ya'll have a fan here.

You're reading it exactly right. We fear for our collective lives (not literally) each game we play. We have little confidence in our defense, although it played better last week against Arizona State (which itself has little offense). And we fear our offense, while talented and can move the football, will turn it over in a crucial situation, which we've done EVERY game, and which we've usually done deep in our territory. With LSU's propensity for opportunistic defense, it could bode not well for us.

"What's so funny?"(!?)
We suck, too.
We've given up 12 turnovers in 4 games, and our turnover margin is -8. We suck.
We're averaging almost 100 yds in penalties per game. We suck.
We allowed Arkansaw 41 points, SC 37 points, and our defense has been a sieve. We suck.
QB Joe Cox has thrown something like 7 INTs in 4 games. We suck, too.
It should really be a good game. We've both got enough question-marks to make an attorney proud. Can we stop ya'll? Can we move the ball on ya'll?

Stand at your tailgate holding anything but your pecker is fine. Just don't wander up and down the street with a can or bottle. Cup is fine to wander with.
Atlanta to Athens is about 90 minutes downtown to downtown. Gameday, obviously, will take longer.

Just come in on Broad, and turn right onto Lumpkin. Traffic may start to slow a little at the bottom of the hill on Lumpkin, but it keeps moving usually pretty good.
Not a bad parking place, IMO.

Traffic won't get really bad until you get close to the stadium. Travelling on Hwy 78/29/Broad St. will get slow at The Varsity (intersection of Broad and Milledge), but still move until you get into downtown area, near Lumpkin St (which takes you to Sanford Stadium).
Parking on side lots near town might be the good bet, as lots nearer the stadium are reserved (I'm not sure, as I park in a reserved lot [lucky me]), but I always see opposing fans parking near town. It's a haul back (uphill) after the game, but near downtown where the bars (and students) are.
Just watch for the drunk students. They're usually on their first month from home, and the alchohol usuallys isn't handled well (though it's a relatively few stupid ones, that the "un-stupid friends try to corral).
Have fun. We enjoy the LSU fans. They're good sports, fun to hang with, and love their Tigahs. That's our kind of opponent.

Thanks. We've got a 15 passenger van rented for our tailgate, right across the street from where the players get off the bus for the Dawgwalk. In 2004 there was a band jamming right next to our spot that fronts Baxter St. We'll have 6 Dawgs and 8 Tigers in the van, plus another23-50 in our taingating spot. We will be on opposite ends of Sanford Stadium from ya'll, but wave if you see me. I'll be in Red and Black.
Oh, yeah, if you bring good Louisiana food, I might be drawn to the smell. My Mother grew up in NOLA (God rest her soul), and it's in my blood).

Kiddin' me? Athens is FULL of bars. After all, it IS a college town. Go downtown to College Avenue, get out, and walk. You'll run into the bars (or the drunks) in no time.

Try outlying towns. Winder, 20 miles away with easy access to Athens, Jefferson, 22 miles and on I-85 are 2 choices. It won't be Athens, but it's an easy drive.

As long as you're near your car or tailgating spot, there are no problems. Don't walk the street with a can or bottle of beer. This ain't the Quarter.
We're looking forward to a good time with our LSU friends coming over for the game. I can't wait for the jambalaya they bring, too!

The Legendary UGA fullback from the '90s, Pulpwood Smith has spoken. Pulpwood lectures the Dawgs with his own special brand of wisdom.

"Dude we RAN the football RIGHT AT YOU in the Red Zone for 3-4 TD's...what in the hell does that have to do with your receivers fumbling the ball and your punter shanking the ball?"
Hate to argue w/Bama fan on an LSU board, but the point is this: Bama gained less than 130 yards all game. We gave you short fields the entire first half due to our screwups, turnovers, and, yes, good Bama play. However, run-over-us dominant you weren't. I was there. Hated every minute of it, but it's true. Yes, you scored on the ground against us (and in the air, too), but in the second half you gained a grand total of 39 yards on the ground. Oooh, so dominant.
The point was about your rushing game. You won the game The better team won that game. Congrats.

Dawgs respect LSU program more than any other in the West...

Here's why.
LSU matches UGA for tradition. Admittedly without the Bama titles (justified or conjured up), we both have several between us. It's also a party atmosphere on gameday (and even a day or so before!).
Last time LSU came to Athens, our N'Awlins friends brought all their cajun food, we partied down across the street from Sanford Stadium, had a band rocking out right next to us, and we all had a blast (of course, that year we thumped ya'll pretty good).
And our win in Sanford was a payback after a double knockdown from ya'll in Tiger Stadium and the Georgia Dome.
I've been there for a couple of games, and the atmosphere is great, and the fans are, too. Hospitable, and almost urging us to come over and try some food out (Umm, if only Drago's were in Atlanta!). But the point is the fanbase is passionate, knowledgeable, and fired up. It makes for a great game between SEC powers.
After the economy knocked me back, and made me realize I needed to cut back, I sold my LSU-UGA tix, and cancelled my hotel room at the Hilton in NOLA. But i assure you I'll be in front of the TV set.
Go Dawgs! Man, I wish I were going now!

Cocky we ain't.
After Bama's beatdown on us, and our inability to put together a quality game, we come in leery of what might happen to us.
Of course, we all have our plans on how we can win. But the reality is, LSU, at home (thank goodness not at night), and with such a good team, will have us with our hands full.

Hey dingbat! Richt called a time-out with the playclock at ZERO! He couldn't have run out the clock!
As a Season ticket holder, I've seen Richt go down the field against other teams, while holding a double-digit lead, then take a knee to run out the clock, while sitting on the 3 yardline.
You don't know what you're talking about.
