I really don't dislike USC (believe it or not), but their teams from the Pete Carroll era and everyone's treatment of them always got on my nerves. On the one hand, we were constantly force fed the propaganda that Pete was this coaching mastermind who was way smarter than everyone else on the planet. On the other, we had to endure everyone insisting almost all of their players were vastly superior to anyone on any other team (as in, their 4th stringers would soon be NFL all stars).
Yes, Pete Carroll is a very, very good coach, and, yes, USC had some incredibly great players, but let's pump the brakes a bit. For a team to supposedly have BOTH the best coach in the history of football as well as the best talent ever assembled, they certainly didn't live up to the hype.
