2 years in a row takes the number 1 ranked player in LA. Nicky is taking control of what he built!!!! You LSU fans can moan and groan about LSU cooling off all you want but how the hell do you lose a kid thats HS is on the LSU campus?!?!?!?! C'mon even Les Miles isnt dumb enough to let this happen
re: So Christian Hackenberg is now the #1 ranked QB in the country

he has by far the best arm strength in this class.
re: Are Bama recruiting classes overated

Since 2009 bama has had 11 first rounders. The next team has had 6. Itll probably be 15 in 5 years come this april, not tooo bad to me.

re: Spurrier or Saban
Posted by bama11braves on 1/5/13 at 12:35 pm
Spurrier's most impressive accomplishment you are right was Duke. What he did at duke was impressive, but then again david cutcliff is doing it right now at Duke as well. Your point about spurrier coming along when florida state and miami were powers. Well you know what there is so much talent in the state of florida that all he needed to do was get a couple of the top kids every year and he was going to be good. If Spurrier never showed up at Florida someone else would have and they would have turned Florida into a top program because there is to much talent in that state to not at least have a run of winning games.
What Saban did at LSU not just Alabama speaks volumes. LSU was no power before they got there just incase you dont remember that. He in a few years took a program that was average and won a championship. Wheres Steve's ring at south Carolina?!?! He is never going to win one there ever. Saban is a better evaluator, recruiter, game day coach, calls a better game, etc. If you want to say saban has better talent that is fine. Talent at worth shite unless you develop it and get the most out of it. Saban is a perfectionist, Spurrier is a little complainer. He whines about the refs, the school hes at, that saban doesn't even need to win the SEC to win the national title. SABAN IS WINNIG AT A TIME WHERE THE SEC HAS BEEN AT ITS BEST. What he has done at alabama in my mind will never be matched again. He took a shitty team and in 2 years made them a power. There won't be someone like him to come around for a while. Comparing these two is comical

Only people more arrogant are ND, Texas, and then the mighty Oklahoma sooners and there big game coach
re: Spurrier or Saban
Posted by bama11braves on 1/4/13 at 4:48 pm
Is this even a serious question? Spurrier was the coach in the best football producing state in the united states and only won a title once. This also is in a time when Lsu, alabama, georgia, etc were no good. He's also in one of the best talent producing states in the country now. They're not even comparable. Who ever started this question needs his head examined. Saban has changed college football, spurrier is most famous for his whining and throwing his visor.

The question is gonna be in 2 years do they hire Craig to replace Malzahn or do they finally go after Petrino.
ESPN comparing Golson to Manziel
Posted by bama11braves on 1/3/13 at 3:08 pm
Dont you think Golson is more like dennard robinson than he is manziel...... I mean CMon its ludicrous to compare that kid to manziel. Anyone else sick of hearing this from ESPN?
Not sure this has been mentioned for title game
Posted by bama11braves on 1/3/13 at 12:46 am
Im not flaming just curious but has a freshman QB ever won a BCS title? Im trying to think when the last time a freshman qb won a national title but cant think of one
re: Browns have sights on Oregon's Chip Kelly

I agree with you I think him with the panthers and cam newton would be great. Hed be the ideal fit in the nfl to run his offense with 2 good rb's.
re: Notre Dame is going to get sh*t on

re: Notre Dame's and Bama's BCS practice schedules

re: Comparing schedules

oh and what does last years records have to do with anything? What was ND's record last year?? And when teams play them next year what are they going to say, "oh boy ND must be good they went 12-1 and then got crushed by alabama in the finals so they must be good this year" i dont get your logic. i thought ND was supposed to have prestigious academics when it seems like every poster has no football logic.

The lower half of the SEC is a very weak group of teams so playing in a conference--even the mighty SEC has its drawbacks when you can beat any of these teams and use your 2nd and 3rd string after half time.
Mix in some cupcake directionals like W. KY, Florida Atlantic and W. Carolina (where did you find them?) or Towson and LA Lafayette etc. and you have all of the makings of "scheduling for a BCS birth" type recipe for a high ranking in the polls.
Tide only played three tough teams--TAMU, LSU, Georgia--and we know they lost to one and had to come from behind to win the other two.
ND schedule starting out this season featured several teams that had double digit wins the previous year (Stanford-USC-Michigan-MSU etc) and had 9-10 previous season bowl teams on it
That was a whole lot tougher slate than what 'Bama had lined up with one FCS and three directionals that had no chance against the Tide.
You beat a BYU team that couldnt move the ball on san diego state, had 3 pts offensively! If watching that game did not scare the domers than i dont know what did but if you couldnt beat that BYU team by more then 3 then you guys just cant be very good. You beat Navy, Purdue, BC, michigan state is horrendous not sure if you saw them play this year, miami is a joke, the mighty wake forest demon deacons, PITTSBURGH at home in OT are you kidding me?? a USC team with 5 losses, oh and you beat michigan at home by 6 pts when we could have won by 60! Basically you played a schedule with big name schools who aren't very good. You would have lost by 2 tds minimum at tiger stadium at night.

re: Just wanted to thank UT for paying Suneri's salary
Posted by bama11braves on 12/20/12 at 7:32 pm
People complain about Sunseri all the time, have you ever through that their was no talent on UT's defense? I didn't see a whole lot of kids getting drafted on that defense from last year besides maybe a LB or 2. The guy did great at alabama and I know its different but its unfair cuz that tennessee team had zero talent on defense
