i suspect your referring to the inquistion. A time when muslims had taken over all of spain gone into france, attacked and converted or killed all christians along the mediteranian Sea. Many pretended to be catholic so the church provided questions to ask as a test to see if they truly were catholic. The church didnt conduct the inquistion as it was mostly the civil authorities. Many abuses did arise from the civil authorities in their enforcement. Just understand, The native people of france and spain had had enough. Was the word of God not Jesus? Do you believe that the word of God is only what was in written form? How was the word of God spread for almost 400 years without an official book?

How did the church spread to all corners of the world by the apostles without a book? How did the apostles all form the same church teachings, doctrines and traditions as to the worship of God? I'll tell you. They were taught by Jesus himself and the holy spirit guided them.
