I encourage everyone to read this story of a young woman’s experience in transitioning and then later detransitioning. It is an excellent insight into how/why these kids decide they are trans. It is a long read, but worth every word!

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs - the higher you go, the more time to think and act like this.
So I’d say freedom, but also development and advancement into first world. People 200 years ago weren’t thinking about their “identity” because they were too busy working for their survival....
