I've been subbing for the last couple of months before my next job starts, and I can say that this man is my hero. I will march for him.

That just seems like a good way to get shot.
To OP, remember that when calling a tom to you, you are trying to convince the tom to go against his very nature. Normally the tom sits in one spot and calls the hens over to him. You got to try and get him out of his normal routine.
Take a variety of calls with you, try different ones sometimes a tom wants something a little different.
Like others have said start with box and pot calls as they will be more forgiving than a mouth call to a beginner. Myself and I'm sure a lot of the guys here and everywhere cut our teeth on a Lynch's World Champion Box Call.

I have a 12 that I’ve been using for sporting clays that I picked up last spring. Very nice shotgun. Can’t wait to start hunting with it.

Yeah there’s no holes or anything to mount a bracket like that to. I was thinking would loctite or something similar have enough hold?
Mounting a scope without drilling holes?
Posted by ZacAttack on 12/24/17 at 12:39 pm
I have a Winchester Model 74 that I would like to put a scope on but I don’t want to drill holes into the barrel. For one it was made in 1941 (guess I’m a little nostalgic) and two those barrels are supposedly very hard and tough to drill into. So, is there a way to mount a scope without drilling holes? I’m not too worried about recoil knocking the scope around since it’s just a .22, but would like it to be safely mounted and not move around from normal activities.

Shimano is always the answer. The ones I have are built like tanks.
I’ve had a few abus that didn’t hold up well at all and I know lews get a lot of love but they just seem cheap to me.

Academy or somewhere had these for like $800. I have one and highly recommend it, very smooth shooting gun.

Ice crystals that form in the water will burst muscle cells. That’s what all that pink juice is when you thaw frozen meat. Makes meat mushy. It’s also going to take longer to freeze and you’re adding more water to meat making it a nice place for bacteria.

Was just coming to post this exact thing.

I've been subbing since I lost my job. Any advice on how to not screw things up in 8 hours?
re: How to get rid of beavers?
Posted by ZacAttack on 12/15/17 at 12:57 pm
Yeah they ain’t going away until the pond and water is gone. Traps will save you the headache of staying up all night, night after night after night. Like someone said get some water flowing and they will come, set the trap in the water right outside the hole and pick up your prize the next morning.

Using a semi, been using one of the factory improved chokes that came with it. Sometimes I can tell I’m not following through with my shots.

Hahaha. Gotta get free internet advice while I can, after today that maybe hard to come by. Some of the guys i shoot with have invited me to come shoot trap and practice with them next year. I’m sure they can teach me, most have custom o/u’s that you could buy a nice truck with. But thought I’d pick the OB brain until then.
Shooting target clays help

So I’ve been going to several sporting clays shoots at my local gun club. I’ve been doing okay, getting around 70%. this weekend however they had a lot of true pairs and following pairs instead of report pairs. I couldn’t hit the true pairs for shite. Pretty sure I missed everyone. I only managed about half the following pairs. Any advice for getting better at these?

My two favorite episodes of the ones on Netflix are the sooty grouse. The podcast about those episodes is hilarious and makes his incompetence in the show seem even worse.
