New Colt Pythons

Posted by LS(DB)U on 2/6/25 at 4:30 am
Anyone use revolvers to hunt these days?

Opinions on the new Pythons?

Rear sights would be replaced
QR code so unfortunate
Thank you. Appears to be a hernia. Will keep OB posted.

Just Shot Deer With Hernia? Meat Edible?

Have not yet determined if it’s a hernia or other wound or mass but what does the Outdoor Board say about the meat on this guy?

Safe for consumption? PICTURE

Favorite Dove 20ga Ammo & Choke Combo

Posted by LS(DB)U on 8/28/24 at 1:21 am
Almost here…
Any favorite ammo recs?

Benilli users, which choke do you prefer?

Used to always be a Browning Gold 12ga but this will be a fun year experimenting w the 2 20’s and barrel lengths.

Last year our everyday since I was young afternoon hunt was a bit of a show after the morning hunt was allowed. It was also super windy.

This year a morning hunt in the works, any fun tips?

Thanks in advance!
I have the fields if you have the knowledge. Would love to be able to use mine more. Historical site if interested? Thanks

Where to sell guns these days?

Posted by LS(DB)U on 7/19/24 at 2:24 am
LA Sportsman is membership only now? Brand new SBE3 .20 and have no idea where to sell locally in Louisiana.

All of these years I’ve only used them. Any other sites to buy, trade, and sell in Louisiana?

Dove season is upon us in a a little over a month but snake season has been horrible.

I almost want to keep it just for them.

Thanks for any advice all. I miss the good ol days!
Sell Pioneer and get G3
Is G3 enough to get into the gulf safely/comfortably

Or build a jon for lake fishing and bayous here

Keep sxs

He’s awesome, fly fishing. Best experience, great guy and guides (I went circa 2016)

For wade fishing, Narrows dam. Be prepared to run when you hear the noise that the water is being released though.

I never got to wade but I did catch my first native brown and it was so special.

Not stocked here. Amazing River. Try out fly fishing for a day or half day with Rouse and crew…it’s beautiful.

Have fun!
I could use some help guys and gals.

To note: I have access to multiple four wheelers and a side-by-side Here in Louisiana

I am in another state right now with no access to land for riding (TX) and was offered more than I paid for a 2019 Honda side-by-side. I have until Sat to decide. I will probably be back-and-forth between states for a long time.

The other situation at hand:
I really want to do a Jon boat build and explore some waters as I’ve never done really here in Louisiana and learn more about bass fishing, etc.

It’s a project I’ve wanted to do with two of my nephews who are 13 and I have a little time to do it this summer. Depending on their camps, of course, and schedule. Might be able to start tomorrow with the John boat build.

I’ve looked at the used market. It’s OK.

I’ve been sick with Lyme disease for about seven years and I’m getting a little stronger but not much and other things. The heat does get to me, but I’m not sure who it doesn’t get to these days!

The winter time is great. I do love to hunt and will always hunt but like I said I do have access to other ATVs, etc. I would really like to explore bass fishing in the winter as well. Any good Gulf Coast Winter fishing?

The vehicles here are Not necessarily under my name but can be used anytime

I think the question is, would you sell the Honda pioneer deluxe 1000–5 That has sentimental value and is in use only to tow a small trailer where I live to the lake and get around the neighborhood with my dog.

I don’t know where I’ll be living in a years time

Or

Invest in the boat that I really want (the G3 sportsman or Bay)

vs

Start small (I have been getting by with a canoe and a trolling motor for years on bayous, cat island, lake Martin) and
Enjoy the process of the build
(And never get the offer I have now again on sxs??)

It’s an amazing bike with no issues still under warranty

The second I buy a new boat I know I lose big time

(How much are you guys paying for insurance per month? If I may ask for your boats that are around the $35,000 mark?)

My passion right now is fishing as I’ve been an avid outdoorsman for a very long time

Hard calls all around, but I did spend $1600 today for the Jon boat build (easily returnable)

Starting small is always a good idea in my opinion

Any thoughts?

Also, the offer stands until Saturday for the side-by-side

I’m going to have to register and insure one (or two) of the three any advice on registration through Progressive new boat versus old boat? Cost difference?

I’m not wealthy just wanna make a good decision

Thanks for the help Team

I’ve been in a period of acceptance these days with my illness and I just wanna enjoy the rest of whatever time I have left

Thanks OB!

This sounds just like me. Best trailer option if you were to do it again? The standard trailer just seems terrible

I’m at Lyme Disease 7 years later…
Sucks, but I do eat meat??
Truly, has almost ruined my life.
Lots of prayers and acceptance
And grief

But it doesn’t stop me or scare me anymore with going outside.

At one point in the journey I was terrified to go outside in the yard barefoot.

Now, I just give it to God and enjoy the times it doesn’t keep me from being outdoors

Stay safe everyone.

Wild weight limit isn’t it? Thanks for real world advice.

Do you have the standard bear trailer? I heard the trailers are pretty terrible. I too will be off-roading with it.

Thanks for this

re: G3 Boats

Posted by LS(DB)U on 5/23/24 at 1:46 am
They offered it to me as part of negotiations but I can’t match it to what’s on the web. It’s like $1150.

The ones I see are all $2,000 plus

Quick question re big open lakes and higher voltage…

Well, perhaps the question is that, why for big open lakes

My understanding is these trolling motors rapidly loose battery (less than 5 hours) under use. Any benefits to 36volt/does that affect wiring for electronics etc or completely separate?

36 volt I guess it depends on how to rig it. I believe the boat only holds 3-4 batteries

G3 Boats

Posted by LS(DB)U on 5/22/24 at 2:55 am
New boater multi question:

looking into the 1710. 90hp yamaha, what trolling motor? It came with a 36 volt minn kota edge (I don’t remember the specs dealer has been a little eh) offered a minn kota ultrex with spot lock.

Concerns: Weight limit only 650 for all persons gear tackle dogs

What am I missing, this layout vs CC or gator tough?

Anyone have advice?

Will be used in TX lakes and LA bayous. Bass mainly. Will need a Bimini top so added weight there

Also the 36volt setup seems excessive?

Thanks

G3 looks like a solid setup minus their standard trailer

Power poles anyone?

What kind of tint does the OB suggest. Too many options. Thanks.
