Always been fascinated with this sport but have never been able to pick up how it actually works. Is there a "dummys" guide out there?
If you watch the two videos I posted above, you are good to go in terms of basics. You will start picking up nuances and in-game strategies along the way as you watch more.

Here is the single best video I have seen of someone explaining cricket in a way that baseball fans in America can understand:
Jomboy has become a huge cricket fan and was even a commentator at some of the T20 World Cup matches held here in the US last month.

India will start as the favorites playing at home. They have a very strong batting lineup and a ferocious bowling attack that has blown every team away in this world cup. However Australia play great in big games. So it should be an entertaining match.
India are coming into the game with a 10-game winning streak and Australia with a 8-game streak. Australia lost their first two games and have won every match since then.
If India wins the match, it will be their 3rd world cup. If Australia win, it will be their 6th.
LFG!

India, South Africa, Austrlia and New Zealand the semifinalists after the league stage.
India went undefeated in the league stage beating every team handily and hardly broke a sweat.
India plays New Zealand on Nov 15th in the first semi final. Australia and South Africa play in the second semi final a day later.

Didn't get to watch the race yesterday. Was there any theory/discussion on how Hamilton was able to make this Mediums last that long in the final stint after the red flag despite fighting with LeClerc for a few laps? Did Russell cook his Mediums faster when fighting for position, but somehome Lewis managed to nurse it to the end?

The temperature in Phoenix, Arizona continues to rise as the city broke its previous record of the most consecutive days at or above 110F (43C).
On Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service announced that the temperature at Phoenix Sky Harbor international airport reached 110F, making it the 54th day this year with temperatures of at least 110F.
Earlier this summer, Phoenix grappled with a 31-day streak of temperatures at or above 110F as a blistering and historic heatwave swept across numerous states including Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and California.
The previous record was set in 1974 during which the city saw 18 consecutive days of at or above 110F.
According to Nasa’s global temperature analysis, June 2023 was the hottest June on record.

India's Moon Lander Just Took Off Again and Landed in a Different Place
Posted by stendulkar on 9/6/23 at 5:07 pm
quote:
After safely landing on the lunar surface last month, India's Vikram Moon lander just pulled off its next daring stunt.
The lander fired up its engines, causing it to float 15 inches above the lunar surface, then moved laterally. Moments later it landed again, roughly 11 to 15 inches away from where it was sitting previously.
A clip shared by the Indian Space Research Organization shows the view from the lander as the cratered lunar surface goes up in a cloud of dust. Seconds later, the lander's view clears up again, showing a slightly altered landing spot.
"Vikram soft-landed on the Moon again!" the ISRO's update reads.
It's an impressive feat that again demonstrates India's growing off-world prowess.
"All systems performed nominally and are healthy," the ISRO wrote.
quote:
Shortly after landing on the lunar surface two weeks ago, Vikram released a smaller, six-wheeled rover dubbed Pragyaan, which has been exploring the surrounding area for signs of water ice since.
Vikram's successful flight was performed shortly before it and its rover cousin were scheduled to take a prolonged nap. Early Monday morning, the lander entered sleep mode.
"Vikram will fall asleep next to Pragyan once the solar power is depleted and the battery is drained," the ISRO tweeted on Monday. "Hoping for their awakening, around September 22, 2023."
The stakes are pretty high. If Vikram fails to get up from its slumber, it could be game over for the mission.
"Hoping for a successful awakening for another set of assignments!" the ISRO tweeted over the weekend. "Else, it will forever stay there as India's lunar ambassador."

re: What’s a great net worth by 45?

Here's what our (wife and I combined) Wealthfront says:
But then again, I am a first gen immigrant who came to the US on a student visa and eventually got my green card after 20 years. Got two graduate degrees along the way and joined the tech industry at the right time (think 2010), so there was luck involved too. My wife has a graduate degree too and works in big tech.
I just come from a culture where this is expected, so I don't particularly feel I have done something special or out of the ordinary. We have friends my age, who are much better off than us with like 10x our net worth (from getting into startups that hit big etc.), but we happy and thankful with what we have achieved and have no regrets. This would have been only possible in America and nowhere else, and I never forget that even for a moment.

Major League Cricket (MLC) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in the United States. Operated by American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) and sanctioned by USA Cricket, it began play on July 13, 2023, with six teams representing major U.S. cities under a single-entity model. The first season is taking place over three weeks at Grand Prairie Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas, and Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina, concluding on July 30, 2023.

Twenty-two men will paint North Texas purple, gold and yellow Thursday for a game of bat and ball during the historic debut of Major League Cricket. The sport is wildly popular in many places, but not in the United States.
The Texas Super Kings will host the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the opening match of a 19-match tournament at the newly transformed 7,200-seat Grand Prairie Stadium near Dallas.
"It's a new beginning for cricket in this country," said Zubin Surkari, who is managing operations for Major League Cricket. "T20 (a shorter format) is an exciting three hours of cricket, the pitch looks great, the field looks great. This has never been done in terms of a stadium of this magnitude."
MLC is a $120 million investment from multiple entities — mainly Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan, co-founders of Willow TV, the largest broadcaster of cricket in North America.
The two businessmen plan to grow the game in the United States by bringing in international talent, and building stadiums and training facilities in hopes of cultivating the new generation of U.S. cricketers.

4th guy from the left. Dude's name is Marco Jansen and plays for South Africa. He is officially listed at 2.06 meters tall. The England team is on the right. They are paying tribute to the Queen before starting their cricket game.
Here him next to the shortest player on the South African team
