re: I posted this last night about in stadium replays

The lack of replays in general is maddening. All that money for a new video board and we don’t show replays.

re: Would you rather an LSU home playoff game next year or a first round bye?

I’m sure it’s been discussed. But how would home game playoff tickets work? Similar to bowl games? Do season ticket holders get first right of refusal for their tickets?

Of course backup QBs can when big games. Sometimes the backup even turns out to be better than the starter like Tom Brady. But we remember those moments because they are not the norm. I think things would have turned out differently if FSUs backups went out there and lit it up but they didn’t.
Best vs deserved

Do people not understand that the committee uses a combination of best and deserved to pick the “best” 4 teams. It’s not best vs deserved, it’s a combination of both. You had 5 conference champions this year all with 1 loss or undefeated. 5 teams that earned it on the field so the committee picked what they felt were the best 4 out of those 5 deserving teams. Sure Georgia is probably one of the best 4 teams, but they didn’t meet the threshold of deserving this year without having that conference championship like the other 5 teams. The only question was FSU vs Alabama and they felt Alabama was better. And the injury to Jordan Travis gave them an easy out to put in Alabama.

The playoff committee picked the 4 best teams from a pool of teams that deserved to be there. There were 5 teams this years that earned a playoff spot and the committee picked the 4 best out of those 5 teams. I’m sure Georgia would be favored over Texas right now. But Georgia didn’t have a conference championship, had the same amount of loses as Texas, and also lost to a team that Texas beat at home. I’m not sure why people can’t understand how the committee came up with their 4 teams. The only question was FSU vs Bama and they Alabama was better.
re: Anyone else terrified about injuries going forward?

They were splitting hairs between 2 conference champions. They believed Alabama was better and the injured QB gave them the out they needed to put in Alabama. I am not losing any sleep over this.

I’m not saying there isn’t a bama bias. But to act like they aren’t deserving of being in the top 4 this year is disingenuous. FSU is in the top 4 in every other since the 4 team playoff started. It just so happened this is a year with 5 deserving teams and they got screwed.

The number 6 and 8 teams didn't magically move up. They won their conference championships which is one of the committees most important data points. In my opinion this wasn't about moving FSU down. It was more about Texas and Bama jumping them. We are complaining about a system that was flawed from the get go by only allowing 4 teams with 5 power conferences. Sure FSU deserves a chance to play for a national championship, but so do the other conference champions. Somebody had to be left out and the committee felt that FSU was the weakest of the conference champions. And I can't say that I disagree with them.

re: Why do LSU fans try and create a fictitious rivalry with Alabama ?
Posted by tigereye1988 on 10/26/23 at 7:56 pm
I think it’s pretty well known that lsu fan’s opinion on their biggest rival depends on age. Older fans would say ole miss, auburn in the 00s, Alabama since saban got there. Between saban, game of the century, the national championship game and multiple classic games there’s plenty of ingredients for a rivalry. Not to mention this game has usually featured the most nfl talent over the last 10-15 years. Nobody is claiming this game is above the aub or tenn rivalry. But to claim that it’s “just another game” is a little disingenuous on the bama side.
re: Are there any changes on defense this week?
Posted by tigereye1988 on 10/5/23 at 8:12 pm
Womack, Howard, Wiggins, toviano. All highly recruited guys riding the bench. I don’t know if they would make a difference or not. But they can’t be any worse than the WORST defense in the country.

I responded to the wrong person. I agree, with a defense this bad that you can’t point to just one thing. Coaching, scheme, and players are all at fault.
re: 4th in Offense, 117th in Defense…

It sounded like you were making excuses for the coaches. Like we shouldn’t be surprised that we’re ranked 117 or whatever because that’s what we should expect with the lack of talent on the defense. And anyone expected better is just being unrealistic.

I agree. And I also agree the outrage toward the coaches is warranted too
re: 4th in Offense, 117th in Defense…

I disagree. I acknowledge the defense has a ceiling because the talent is lacking in areas. But when our see our d-line line up 2 yards off the ball, secondary looking confused, refusing to bring pressure and satisfied to play off the receivers and still getting burned constantly, I put a lot of that on the coaches. Those coaches are getting paid a lot of money to get the best out of the players and they are failing.

Do you really think that this is just the best we can do with the talent that we have on defense?
re: 4th in Offense, 117th in Defense…

We have Grambling and MS state included in that. Arkansas isn’t a world beater either. We gave up over 150 yards rushing and nearly 6 yards a carry to Grambling. There’s no silver lining for this defense.
re: 4th in Offense, 117th in Defense…
Posted by tigereye1988 on 10/2/23 at 5:03 pm
I don’t think anybody here is expecting a “good” defense anymore. But average should not be unrealistic. We all know the talent is not elite, but 117 is completely unacceptable. Okay so the secondary got burnt against a good QB with a good play caller. But what’s the excuse for allowing over 300 yards rushing. The defensive line isn’t made up of a bunch of freshman. I don’t have the answers, but I’m also not getting paid 10 million dollars a year to have those answers. This defense is embarrassing and I don’t think I’m being unreasonable by laying a large portion of that on House and BK as well.
