re: Have you ever given a eulogy?

Posted by SetTheMood on 5/16/23 at 3:00 pm
I've given 2, one for my brother and one for one of my best friends. Both died from self inflicted gunshot wounds. I had to break into my brother's house when he didn't show up to work. Horrible experience.

For my brother, I used my time mainly to speak directly to my parents, to let them know that their 3 kids hit the jackpot by having them as parents, that they did everything right. Honestly, I was so mad at him at the time because of what he was putting them through, it really was less about him and more about them. The only time I truly broke down was when I looked out at my dad and he was just uncontrollably sobbing being held up by my mom. Ugh, gives me chills thinking about it. My parents have never been the same, and that's something that I don't think I can ever forgive. My kids will never know what they were like before August 28, 2017. Writing the obit was more difficult for me than the eulogy.

It was harder for me to get through my buddy's. He was a shining light to everyone who knew him and I think about him every day. His mom asked me to do it and there was no way I could say no.
First they came for our skilled trades, now the monkeys are taking seasonal farm labor. What's next???
Nice!

I'm heading up to the Spruce Lake/Turtleford area Sunday. First trip since COVID, I can't wait. How has the weather been?

I'd let my 8 year old daughter watch, but we don't have the same family history you do.

Guess I'll have to be a responsible parent and watch it first!

He lost track of what was happening in Loki but loved Mando.
In the MTV Board's opinion, what is the age/maturity cutoff for this show? My 7 year old son has watched everything else in the Disney MCU without issue. He had some questions after Eternals, but that was my fault and he didn't really bat an eye when I gave him an honest answer. We have a history of mental illness and suicide in my family (he lost an uncle when he was 2, though he doesn't know how) and he is starting to ask more pointed questions. It won't be long until "he got very sick" is no longer going to cut it as my response.

I am curious as to how they present Moon Knight's disassociative identity disorder in the show. I'm inclined to let the boy watch, his mother less so.

I could see United playing to a draw if they can keep City from scoring more than 2. Everton has no shot at keeping City from scoring 3+.
It’s kicking off in Old Goodwood.

Haven't read entire thread, but in 2011 when Mathieu intercepted Jacoby Brissett in the 4th quarter, in the end zone, and Borne came on and said "Interception by.....THE HONEY BADGER!" We went fricking insane and I don't think my group were the only ones who did so.

The link below doesn't do justice to just how loud it got when Borne used his nickname.

Robbo off injured today.

I watched a few different slow-mo angles of his injury...it looks bad bad. Fingers crossed, but I don't see how he won't be out a few months, if not longer.

That may force our hand this window as well...

the on set pregame show is a little over the top

I believe that Roy Kent's character is modeled off of Roy Keane IRL. While Keane probably hasn't popped off on camera to the extent Kent has, his on air persona (and actual persona) really is that of a world class dick.
As close to the vest as Michael Edwards plays things, I don't think there's any chance in hell he lets the nucleus of his team disintegrate. Gini is one thing, Hendo is something entirely different.
Turn your google image safe search off...Under The Skin....
I'm sure its been done, but I'm too lazy to go back and read. I'm going to assume the outgoings will be:
Origi, Shaq (sad), Wilson and Grujic. I don't want Keita to leave, so he stays in the current squad.

Current squad:

K: Alisson, Adrian, Kelleher
RB: Trent, Neco
LB: Robbo, Tsimikas (assuming he exists)
CB: VVD, Konate, Gomez, Matip, Phillips, Williams, Davies
MF: Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, OX, Milner, Jones
FWDs: Salah, Mane, Firmino, Jota, Harvey, Taki

Obviously Gomez, Fabinho, Milner and Ox can all play at more than one position group. I'd definitely like to see us bring in additional competition (can be same player) for RB/LB, another MF, and at least one more versatile attacker. Hope we can find money to spend without having to wait for outgoing transfer fees.

What does Blanton's retail for? What is a comparable or even better bourbon at that price point

Usually $60-$70. I enjoy Blanton's but won't go out of my way to hunt it. John J Bowman SB, EHT Small Batch, Eagle Rare, Maker's 101 (personal favorite), 1792 SB, Old Forester 1910, High West American Prairie. There are a ton that you can put your hands on that are just as good if not better. Most of those are cheaper than Blanton's and not impossible to find.

I thought the exact same thing.

Compared to some of the mockups floating around, I'd rate this as "acceptable".

You got them both breh. My body is ready for Sunday.
