re: If you could add two teams to the SEC...

The ones whose most recent game consisted of getting blownout by the last place SEC West team?
That team and their coaching staff suck. We don't need to add cadaver programs like uTx... that's a big twen/SWC 2.0 thing.
Congrats on underselling your tier 3 rights and locking that in for 20 years, screwing all the other teams out of a conference network in the process.
Enjoy playing Iowa State and Kansas on your glorified closed circuit "network" while we play interesting and relevant games against teams in the best football conference in the country.
Texas was quite possibly the biggest loser of realignment. People are laughing at your senile former AD and his 'sliver' idiocy; the sliver now runs from Louisiana to New Mexico, and Texas is SEC country.

re: ESPN asks, "Murray or Allen?"

I recently rewatched our bowl win over WVU.
Allen's numbers in the WVU game were spectacular, his decision making looked way better than a true freshman, his TD:INT was great, despite being known as a drop back guy he had a brilliant run to the flag for 6 on a perfect read, he ran for (and picked up) first downs and aside from one early mistake on the left flat, there were no glaring deficiencies.
As far as winning at Auburn, I had already inked in an "L".
You cannot take Allen out based on practice and the HS reputation of Murray, legacy that he is.
I believe he should shirt, but if Coach Sumlin puts him on roster it will give opponents something to think about, for sure.

West Coast Ag,
LSU would certainly add quite a bit to the dying Big XII... but Texas would add NOTHING but acrimony to the already peak value SEC.
LSU would make the Big 12 more valuable with the TV contracts, while Texas adds zero to the current SEC footprint.
uTx is also no longer the "most valuable" program, either. They are still the highest grossing (for now) but due to the weakness of the conference after Nebraska, Texas A&M, Mizzou and CU left their season ticket sales are way way down, their glorified closed circuit tv "network" is hemorrhaging cash and totally unwatchable, their players and coaches suck, they're sub .500 and two million in the red.
Plus Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina and probably LSU would never vote them in.
LSU is sitting pretty. uTx is circling the drain.

You should probably move to a state where the weed isn't strong and legal, bro.

Texas has this ongoing delusional fantasy that two teams out of LSU, Arkansas, Notre Dame and Florida State could leave their current situation to partner with Taxas and the Big 12. It's insane, I know.

North Carolina and either Virginia or Virginia Tech. To me that's a no brainer.
As far as Texas goes, if you don't believe us about how terrible it is to be in a conference with those assholes, ask Arkansas. Their program is poison.

I for one don't need any "thank yous" from our new conference members... the SEC has been the best run conference in football since at least the early 90s, it makes both the old SWC and the original Big 12 look like clown shows, there is superior competition, not just in football but accross all sports, the exposure is superb, and I am happy to be here, finally.
Sure we kicked in tv sets, and happily had a Heisman phenom that helped the tier three rights numbers at just the right time and we all collectively got a little richer.
Since joining I've been to several road games, the other schools have friendly and welcoming alumni and fans, the games are far more interesting (even if we lose) and our one older natural rivalry with LSU, even though there's a lot of smack talk, is cordial and collegial and fun to tailgate and party with before and after games.
There is no other conference more deserving of whatever we bring as a member. The SEC is the best.

Kevin Sumlin is being very well paid... and he's worth it.
Texas A&M isn't competing with mere colleges for his services, we can out bid any schools for who we want.
In Coach Sumlin's case, he has already turned down USC to stay at Texas A&M... we are now successfully engaged in bidding for his services against NFL teams.

re: Why do Mizzou fans have so much less animosity toward the Big12 than Ags?
Posted by 13-0 Branding Iron on 5/8/15 at 9:39 pm
Ah, here comes that inevitable history rewrite with the accompanying burned orange spin.
I guess it didn't occur to you that this is an SEC board, the question was posed to Mizzou and Texas A&M fans, and you are none of the above. I'll address some of your bullcrap rewrite, but then you should go to TexAgs if you want to voice your realignment opinions.
That play was not reviewable by rule unless it fell under Article 6, egregious error.
Problem is, if your team is in FG range with seconds left, and you run a passing play, then scramble, and then the try to throw the ball out of play, and the clock shows 0.00 there is no 'egregious error'. There was no reason to suppose time didn't run out. Certainly nothing egregious, as the announcers couldn't agree if time expired, or if there was 0.2 or 0.3 on the clock even watching in slow motion as the ball hit a chair on the sideline. The whole fiasco was pulled out of the refs' asses.
I don't care to address the other lies and half truths you've spouted above.
You are an incredibly BAD partner to have in a conference, period, and everybody knows it. You will NEVER play in the SEC, you were rejected by B1G, then the ACC and then the PAC again.
Nobody here cares about your opinionated spin, so stop following your Daddy Texas A&M around like some needy red headed stepbrother. It's raining money on the SEC, and very soon Vanderbilt will be hiring anybody they want off your staff.
You got played by Texas A&M, and the entire football community knows it. Your sub .500 team was destroyed and humiliated by the last place team I'm the SEC West.. in a game played in Texas. You have no serviceable QB and a PATHETIC offensive line, which allowed your stated reliance on the running game to achieve an average 3" per carry v. Arkansas in a blowout that wasn't as close as the score indicated.
Texas A&M is cherry picking recruits who want to play in the best of the Power 4 conferences: the SEC.
Texas A&M is lapping you in recruiting and that trend won't stop anytime soon. You dodged Texas A&M in the 2013 Cotton Bowl, hiding out in a minor bowl and letting OU take your whipping. Now your coach says he doesn't want to play us any time soon. He may appear to be a little smarter than he looks.

I have a little personal knowledge of what happened regarding Texas A&M's exit... I won't speak for Mizzou, but it is generally known that uTx is a terrible conference partner whose modus operandi has always been to tilt the playing field to their advantage without regard to sportsmanship and by any and all means available, no matter how unscrupulous. For example,
Recently Nebraska was cheated out of a Big XII title when tUx ran out the clock, but officials actually added time after game expiration to give tUx a shot at an easy field goal. Nebraska was livid, and rightly so.
Back to Texas A&M, in the early 90s A&M wanted to join the SEC, LSU and Joe Dean was going to help sponsor us in (much like Coach Stallings and Bama did for us this time).
However, it wasn't kept close to the vest and tUx, baylor and tech were able to extort out continued membership by legislative means, and some funding issues.
Fast forward to the Nebraska championship debacle. They had had enough of Texas cheating and gaining unfair advantages... something we were used to for 100 years. They left ASAP for the Big 10, and were willing to pay anything to get away from Texas.
As Nebraska left, Texas started negotiating with the PAC, but by themselves, without Texas A&M (or any of the other schools to be realigned) represented.
When Texas A&M learned Texas was presuming to negotiate for us, we were outraged, but kept it close to the vest.
With Texas trying to leave, we saw the chance we had been waiting for. We contacted Coach Stallings and he used his position as somebody recognized and respected in the SEC to advocate for us. An arrangement was made... if Texas went to the PAC, we were going to the SEC.
This caused Texas to go back to the PAC, knowing Texas A&M would never follow and ask for an unequal revenue distribution, as well as retention of their own 3rd tier rights, knowing full well that was against PAC by-laws.
We advised Colorado on the QT that they would be glad later if they left the Big XII now. They fell right into the PAC expansion plan.
Then Texas game back and claimed they "saved" the Big XII... and wanted sole 3rd tier rights to their games for their precious (now worthless) Longhorn Network. The conference voted on the acceptable parameters for individual 3rd tier rights, which passed with two (2) games allowed televised per year. Knowing them and their cheating ways, we knew they would not abide by that agreement, and they didn't. Soon 2 games changed to 3, and suddenly they wanted to broadcast high school content, giving them an obvious recruiting advantage.
Texas A&M now had a plan to get out that nobody could stop (although baylor tried). After.petitioning the NCAA regarding unfair recruiting advantage Texas was trying to gain (NCAA agreed), our work was finished. We sunk their attempted recruiting scam, and THEN reopened negotiation with our SEC friends. Less than a year later we were in the SEC West.
We kind of did a number on them and left their sorry asses high and dry, in the process our income and recruiting boomed while they are continuing to circle the drain.

It's hard to take this seriously when TCU's last win against Texas A&M was in 1972, and baylor's been winning about once per decade for the 20-30 years.

I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK. That has been the point of the entire "don't give me posting advice" theme.
Say assuming you did go to college, when you were taking a literature class did you have to read the books two or three times before the tests to be sure you got the correct meaning?
Also: I am having fun. Fun fun fun. More fun than JOHNNY FOOTBALL running through LSU's defensive backfield.
