The air show is in Pensacola this weekend. They are practicing.
I had a monument, it lasted 2 years before the base completely rusted and collapsed. It was great otherwise.
Weber durability sucks, especially in salt air. Napoleon makes a superior gas grill. I have a Rogue Pro and love it after the first few months. The base is much sturdier than the Webers I have had.
Athleticism doesnt matter, meanwhile France is on the best run in their history over the last decade and coincidentally their team has gone from all pasty baguette eaters to entirely african immigrants.
The best white American athletes are playing football and baseball. Guys like George Kittle, Dylan Ctrews, and Bobby Witt Jr are just as good athletically as any white Euro.
I wish Fox would have found a graphic to display the salaries of the Americans. I think young kids seeing that Tillman and Mckennie make almost $6 million a year would help kids realize that there is a path in soccer.

Everybody is the best at something until someone bigger, faster, stronger, and with a higher sports IQ comes along
He is mostly right.

Like baseball, the focus is on winning 13 "World Series" per year, rather than focusing on drilling and individual skill development.

Our best athletes arent going to play soccer because they wont get extremely wealthy playing soccer.

Wro g.

Top soccer players make top NFL qb money, and there are about 1000 soccer players in the world making over $1 million per year.

The top ~250 soccer players all make over $10 million per year.

But at every level of soccer I've watched or participated usually the best players were those who understand the game and processed what was happening better/faster than anyone else

Jesus Christ

Lol, and what happened when those same guys that were better at processing things were also better athletes. These numbnuts seem to think these 2 things have to be mutually exclusive.

If soccer was the main sport, we’d be producing guys who are both elite athletically in every way that makes up a great sportsman, while also being elite in the skills department. In every position on the field.

2. People mostly just talk about NFL and NBA players. Think of all of the thousands and thousands of very athletic and skilled players who may have made fantastic soccer players but either never made it to the NBA or NFL or washed out quickly because they were only 5’10” and 180 lbs. So many players out there never grew into the size required to play in the NFL or NBA yet would be been the perfect size for soccer.

Exactly this. Put every young baseball, football, and basketball athlete into a soccer bucket and see who rises to the top. The argument against is completely ludacris.

Europeans - you know, people who actually watch the sport - are coping

They are. They have no idea what America really is and what the makeup of our people are. They are fed lies and believe that we are all fat dumb rednecks.

Opinions, by their very nature, cannot be objective. They are always subjective, and the counter to them is as well.

very basic sport

Hmmm

Yet guys like Ed Reed and Troy Polomalu could never have been good at it.

I honestly don’t know what the problem is. It can’t just be solely money

Wrestling doesn’t generate revenue that any of the three big sport do yet we have plenty of Olympic and World champs.

It requires to be taught very early typically like soccer

The youth setup in America is not conducive to establishing elite individual skillsets. That has been established.

Beyond that though, the fact that the available pool of athletes is miniscule because kids start out playing other sports HAS to be a factor. A big one.

Very few, if any, teams intentionally put slow players at winger or fullback

shite, I think I would have taken prime Ed Reed with zero soccer training over Ream the other night. Just told him to "mark this guy"

This thread is focused on how the focal characteristics of pure athleticism d

No, it didnt. You soccer guys came in and tried to imply that. The argument was always "how good would US soccer be if it were America's #1 supported sport"?
quote:

He’s actually probably one of the worst examples to use for this argument as the things that actually made him a legend (IQ, vision, and preparation) aren’t a function of athleticism. His return excellence was a function of the same skillset, certainly not his below average speed

So you do believe there are athletes with the characteristics that make up a great soccer player that aren't playing soccer. Interesting.

Its almost like he would be a more athletic version of Tim Ream.
quote:

the training and culture improved to compete with the best of Europe, then Russell Westbrook vs Weston McKennie might matter

Bingo.

I would also add that even with the exact same level of training I bet Ed Reed would be better thhan Tim Ream at defending.

Kobe was good enough to play soccer professionally he would have, Especially in Italy where there are 100s of professional teams and even more semi-professional teams.

No, Kobe was always going to follow in his father's footsteps as an NBA player. Soccer was a hobby for him. His dad was a professional bball player in Italy, which is why they were there in the first place.
Kobe was very modest. If he said, "

I would have moments of doing something crazy that really wasn't done on purpose. I'd pull off a nice move that was unintentional
then I suspect he may have had a little more soccer talent than he is letting on.

Regardless, the point is not that Kobe or Lebron as specific individuals would be the ones to make it. The point is that the US has a huge pool of elite athletes like that to put in the bucket and see who rises to the top.
