John Schneider IS Jonathan Kent.

Never watched Smallville but I think im about to start here soon.

I hated Kevin Costner in this movie. Honestly, if he was never in a movie again, I wouldn't mind.

I couldnt disagree more. I thought he was great at JK. Think about it. If you had an alien son, your reluctance to bring light on him would weigh heavy on anyone. He even said that whatever you decide to be, good or bad, will change the world. I think he was only protecting him from the unknown and trying to guide him to be a good and humble person. I thought he played the part to perfection, but then again, I like Kevin Costner. I dont know who couldve played JK better to be honest.
Would my 4 year old enjoy it? I could care less if I think it sucks, but if its enjoyable to him, im good. He loves the first Monsters.
Nothing about Superwoman excites me.

I do like the notion of having Lex going insane and having world catastrophic destruction to test Superman in the next film. If Zod and Superman did the damage they did fighting, imagine what Lex could do on a global scale. Nuclear bombs, airplane crashes, buildings blowing up, etc. Bank robberies are about as sad as it gets, but seeing Lex frick shite up 'Joker' style, while having Superman make choices, would be fun to watch. Id enjoy Nolan's interpretation of a Lex Luthor

I would have been nice to see him save a few people or stop a bank robbery while wearing the suit before Zod invaded

Thinking he was still in that "if the world finds out who I am, they will reject me" mode before Zod came pouncing about.

I really recommend Man of Steel in IMAX 3D if you're near one. It was awesome and the action sequences and visual sights was definitely worth the extra few dollars.

IMAX 3D, and it was incredible. Zimmer's score with all the action sequences felt like a roller coaster ride once it was all said and done. Cant wait to go back and watch it again. At worst, go see it in 2D IMAX . But 3D was pretty damn amazing.
Im debating on seeing it IMAX 3D or just IMAX. Im not a huge fan of 3D but if its worth the effects, Id definitely go.

It just ended. To summarize my feelings in one short sweet sentence: 9.5/10. This is the Superman movie I have waited my entire life for.

goddamn thats good to hear. I wont be reading your review until I see it, but damn, im glad someone came out saying it was everything I think it will be

But if being too much like Batman Begins is it's knock, then that's a pretty good sign. Batman Begins is one of the 3-4 best superhero movies of all time.

I couldnt agree more. I thought Begins was the best one of the trilogy.
I havent seen it, but I might as well have with all the damn previews. You do have to admit it does look visually stunning. How do I know it has substance? Well thats simple. All of the Nolan films have some type of substance to them(with exception of TDKR-IMHO). I like the story line he designed with Clark Kent being reluctant to be different. Super powers or not, he is different. An outcast if you will. Taking the "first contact" storyline was clever. I do admit Im biased because I was raised a Superman fan before anything. With that said, I hope its great. Like I have said before, with Synders visual effects, Nolans storytelling, and Zimmers musical composition, it could be a movie about a dead tree and it would be, at worst, entertaining.
Sounds to me like a bunch of butthurt hipster pussies who would rather be "different" by bashing a film that is not only visually stunning and testosterone fueled, but one with actual substance. A rebirth of an American Icon told by one of the best storytellers walking the earth. Any film that isnt about drinking a Caffè caramel macchiato latte frappacinno with half a splenda and cream while bitching and whining about their parents and life just isnt "cool". Reviews like "whatever" scream some dude/chic that is pale white, "skinny" jeans and a tight florescent v-neck t-shirt with hipster black glasses on with the above described concoction in hand. If someone cant appreciate the vision and storytelling of Nolan, they clearly have issues. Im sure getting stoned and watching Seth Rogan talk about weed and the end of the world is much cooler to bandwagon than MOS.

Or.....Maybe im just getting old
Just the simple fact that Hans Zimmer is doing the score says it won't fail. I love every movie he's scored. Throw in the visual effects of Snyder and angle of Nolan, I can'T honestly really remember being this is excited about a movie premiere.

The one where they do the one dude with the chainsaw and then the other dude with the knife? That one is roug

Yes. What I cant get over is how most of those dudes take it like a man in alot of those executions. I guess its a pride thing not to let them see you cry like a bitch. Not sure how Id act. I sure as frick wouldnt just let some a-hole cut my fricking head off. Id try to take atleast one of em with me. Especially when you know your arse is dead dead in the next few seconds. The ones where dudes cry and scream is what sends fricking shivers down my spine. :banghead:

It's that same thing that makes us go to horror movies in droves

I agree on everything you said, but the difference between the two is one you can say "damn that shite sucks, but I know its not real." And the real stuff, "damn, seeing that guy get a chainsaw to his head must really suck" and knowing its real is harder to unsee and digest than the movies. Not being argumentative, but I think they are worlds apart(real vs. horror).

Watching some of those low level cartel guys get their heads sawed off is something you cant forget. I never understood how someone can absolutely hate another human being so bad to do such heinous things to each other.

'Banned from TV' was pretty brutal too. If you're into that type of stuff bestgore.com has some shite that will make you sick. Friend of mine linked me to that site where it was showing mexican cartel executions. To this day I cant get that shite out of my head. :banghead:
I'll go see it and wont care if it's meh. Im sure it'll be entertaining. Ill be pissed if Man of Steel is anything less than phenomenal tho.

Jor-El gave his son an epic charge: be their protector. Here is an alien with God-like powers that has charged himself with protecting his adopted planet. People will be afraid. Governments will hate him. Nefarious characters will try to use him. Once he is accepted, how long before people rely on him too much? Can Superman be everywhere at once? How long before they resent him? How does he choose between his own life and his charge?

Jor El, warned him of this in the first movie...

Jor-El: You are revealed to the world. Very well, so be it. But you must still retain your secret identity.
Superman: But why?
Jor-El: The reasons are two. First, you cannot serve humanity twenty-eight hours a day.
Superman: Twenty-four.
Jor-El: Or twenty-four, as it is in Earth time. Your help would be called for endlessly, even for those problems which human beings could solve themselves. It is their habit to abuse their resources in such a way.
Superman: And, second?
Jor-El: Second, your enemies will discover that the only way to hurt you, will be by hurting the people you care for.
Superman: Thank you, Father.
Jor-El: Lastly... Do not punish yourself for your feelings of vanity. Simply learn to control them. It is an affliction common to all, even on Krypton. Our destruction could have been avoided had it not been for the vanity of some who considered us indestructible. Were it not for vanity, why... at this very moment...
