Discussions around HOW you're taxed is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The more important discussion is the discussion around expenditures. If the government can't reduce/limit spending, they'll still have to come up with funding/taxes. Without reducing spending, total tax burden will remain the same. It'll be just shifted to other methods (i.e. sales tax, property tax, etc.)

As a participant: skiing/snowboarding. I found myself living in Idaho when I thought I’d never leave the South.

Once lived in New Hampshire, decided to hitchhike to Raleigh. I made it to the Jersey Coast in 17 hours and eventually to Philly where I caught a trucker who was high as a kite. He kept mentioning he had to go West to this city in Tennessee even though it was East of where we were at the time. I got off around the Cumberland Gap and thanked him for his time. I eventually made it to Raleigh and freedom.

One of our conference rooms was always much colder than every other room. Turns out the thermostat was next to the microwave.

I last lived in Raleigh 5 years ago. I heard way more Yankee/Northern accents than Southern accents at work.

I lived there for 3 years and loved it. I would still live there if I hadn't gotten addicted to skiing and/or there was decent skiing nearby.

My strategy to pay my mortgage early would be to not pay any extra towards the mortgage. Instead, invest any extra payments into an index fund. Once you have enough in the index fund to lump sum the rest of the mortgage, you'd pay off the rest of the mortgage at that time.

Depends on what you want in a pet? A roommate or a friend. Cats are better roommates. Dogs are better friends.

No, and don't know. Perhaps, I have lived in a bubble, but the majority of responses surprised me given that most here grew up in the Bible Belt.

As for me, I've been happily married for 7 years.
