This entire thread -- not one damn mention of the "I just bought a giraffe!"
This will not be a cinema masterpiece. It is empty entertainment. Have fun with it, or don't.

PETER EDWARD ROSE
sorry... but he was the biggest a-hole of his baseball generation. Terrible team guy. Terrible club house guy. and Terrible fan guy.
Just a very egotistical and selfish human being.
Yet, he should be in the HOF because he was a hell of a base ball player.

Jose Cruz (Sr.).
I met him many times and he was always gracious and genuinely interested in talking with the fans.
He was never a super star, but he played hard every single day and was a superb athlete.

This is gonna be a long season.
Even with all the Yankee injuries... want to trade the Yankee season for the Astro's season?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Alas, I can still look forward to 2015 when the Astros are supposed to be competitive again.

Melky was having a sick year and he prob guessed it and now he's using one right guess to make sure no one drafts them in the early rounds of his fantasy drafts...smart strategy
Extremely plausible. I mean... er... I doubt that it happened that way.
On another topic, did ya'll hear that Pujols, Hamilton, Trout, Harper, Buster Posey, Bumgarner, and Lincecum all tested positive for West Nile and they'll all be out indefinitely???

What happened to that awesome water-brain post?
Not sure what happened there. I shouldn't have gotten tilted and responded like that. A certain amount of skepticism is certainly warranted here. I just didn't agree with thinking this "rumor" is the same as the Les Miles thing. Especially since everyone knows that the Les Miles rumor was simply a smoke screen to cover up Studdrawa's affair with a production manager at a Zebra Cakes factory.

Good question but i expect they have protocols in place that require them to re-test (a split sample) after a postive screen before confirming it as a positive screen.
Exactly -- there is a grace period before the go public.
Kind of like, "look, you've been bad. get your story straight so you don't make everyone look bad, and then we'll announce."
Melky took his "don't make us look bad" period and created a made up web site and product.

So because he got one rumor right, are we now supposed to believe everything that he says?
Not at all. You treat it just like many of the "annointed" ones on TD and the SEC Rant -- there are a few people that have come across big stories due to personal relationships. That means that have access to certain information, and have the potential to break a big story and be right about it.
Does it mean you believe them right away? No. But you don't just immediately discount them just because their name is not Buster Olney.
Especially when he DID break the biggest PED suspension a month before anyone else last year.
I'm not saying to believe this guy - but this rumor is getting some air time on sports radio (even if ESPN is not talking about it). So, it IS topical to the MSB.

I agree. But the fact that this Joe Bisceglie guy called the Melky suspension 4 weeks before it was announced, you have to give *some* kind of attention to this.

Not sure how accurate this is... but this is the same source that broke the Melky Cabrera suspension last year.

Skyfall, more entertaining use of your time.
I in no means intend to offend. But I have tried to watch skyfall twice now and just can't get through it. I saw someone call it a cross between die hard and home alone.
I don't want to list all of the things that I didn't like about skyfall because some people here may not have seen it. But for one: it has put me to sleep twice due to not keeping me engaged in the story.
Flight is an excellent story with great script and cast. There is much to like about flight. skyfall just seemed like another addition to the poor run of bonds films.

Peacock had a nice year in AAA last year and can be a solid 3/4.
since when is a 6+ ERA in AAA "solid"?
Carter simply adds depth to an already long list of "has power but can't hit" 1B/DH contenders the Astros already have.
As an Astros fan, I'm thinking Luhnow panicked. He wasn't sure if Lowrie could hold up until July, so he traded him now. I would've gambled and held on to him. If he stays healthy, this trade would look dramatically different. If he gets hurt... no huge loss, the team is destined for the cellar for the next 2 season anyway.

My idea of the CHL course being a requirement was simply an idea of a start. I do like the idea of gun safety in school. Hell, we have driver's ed, why not gun safety?
As for the comment about "growing up on the farm" -- you realize that is a VERY small segment of the country, right? Hell, you can make the same argument, "I started driving on the farm when I was 12, why do I need to take driver's ed?"
And where, I didn't grow up on the farm, I did grow up in a military family. Gun Safety was taught at a very early age. But I too, am a small segment of the population.
In 2010 - over 600 people died from accidental shootings. That is far more than any gun-toting crazy carrying an AR with any amount of ammo.
If congress wants to improve gun laws, improve the safety and awareness of both gun owners and non-gun owners alike.
Or, we can just have more of these.
