If LSU can land Van Lith to replace Morris and the Forward from DePaul to replace L. Williams they will likely go back to back IMO.
the big from Depaul is more like Angel than Williams. It might be hard to get a physical 6' 4" defender to match Williams.
On the positive side, there is a top 10 6'5" post and a top 2 6' guard to go with a top 50 point and a top 100 wing. The key thing for me would be an experienced point and post to help bring the freshmen along.

How is anyone with NIL? It is too early to know what NIL is going to be much less who is good at it.

You need to understand 139 people died in LA yesterday.
We are blessed in this country to have free access to the vaccine. It breaks my heart that so many have refused to take advantage of something people around the world would literally kill to have.

Sure, I am always concerned when a starter misses practice a lot. Since there is nothing that can be done about it, I just ignore it as much as possible.

I love Jamar, but I was about 60-40 on an OL in the first round. Mainly due to the quality of round 2 WR picks over the last few years.

Sure, 10-2 would be great

re: Could the Honey Badger have a future role on the LSU coaching staff?
Posted by MikeTheTiger58 on 8/22/21 at 5:09 pm to Jebadeb
First Question: Does he have a degree?
Second Question: Is he willing to climb the ladder?
I don't know how well he would coach. So much of his greatness is his "vision" and "anticipation". I remember some commentary about Magic coaching basketball. He could see the whole court and could not understand why his players could not "see" what was right in front of them. This may be an issue for the Honey Badger as well.

Projecting the all-americans who haven't played a game yet is pretty dumb.
I listened to 247 talk about this in a short pod-cast today. They are just trying to answer a common question. "Which freshman will have the most impact this year?"
They are not "listing the most talented players". They are trying to project the most talent with the most opportunity to splash on the playing field. They have their contacts on the coaching staffs and , for example, they are hearing Mason Smith might be starting by the end of the year.
Not an important list, but a projection of who might play a lot. As we all know, injuries and stuff like that will wreck this list.

re: Myles vs Max
Posted by MikeTheTiger58 on 7/28/21 at 6:13 pm to karrss
Add in the fact that Myles was not the reason for any losses at the beginning of the year and he was improving rapidly across those three games (near record pace). It just makes sense, particularly with Howard showing up next year.

re: Anyone else warming up to the idea of keeping the two divisions in the SEC?
Posted by MikeTheTiger58 on 7/28/21 at 6:12 pm to cbree88
No, I want pods so we can play everyone in the conference every three years.
4 pods of 4 teams
3 games against others in pod each year.
1 game against an opponent every year if you both want it.
4 or 5 rotating games.
That gives you every other team in the league every 3 years even if you don't increase to 9 conference games.
I would prefer the 5 game rotation personally.
If the SEC went to 9 games (6 game rotation), then you would see every team home and away every 4 years. That would be sweet.

Goddamn will this ever end??
There is an straight forward solution, get people vaccinated in the southeast. Not easy though.
There are people all over the world begging for vaccines, and many here in the South can not be bothered to get one that is offered for free.

1) Seat back chairs everywhere.
2) Covered seating down the lines with Suites
3) Bull pens that are not on the field of play

I wish they could take the initial stub of this thread (initial pages) and start a new thread for the new coach!
I am always thankful for the work that goes into maintaining this thread.

Go look at the club system in Europe. That is the future.
And, good luck on you greatest day. How many games are released for minor league / club sports.
The current system basically funds 95% of college athletics by not paying the 5% what the market would bear while maintaining their status as "charitable tax free" organizations.
Once a true professional model is introduced to "college" sports, the current athletic departments will be split from the universities. There will be no more title IX. No more track and field, tennis, etc. There won't be tax free donations or scholarships. There will simply be minor league professional teams.
I think the top football teams will survive for a while, but how many minor league teams look anything like current college athletics. In the long run, the USA does not support minor leagues very well.
A lot of people have had a chance to go from sharecropper to life long success due to athletic scholarships; while, other people went to school for 4 years and can not read. I suspect that many in the public don't really look at the big picture of the NCAA in spite of all of the adds about people who go on to "jobs outside professional sports".

I hope we enjoy having only a true freshman QB on the bench. Brennan was on pace to set offensive records last year, but the defense at the beginning of the year was setting records for how bad they could be. I just don't see how Brennan does not transfer if he is benched for an injury. Maybe I am wrong and Brennan will stick around regardless. He did not transfer when they brought in Burrow.
I sincerely hope that Brennan wins the job and has a great year. Then Johnson can fight it out with Nussmeier and Howard in 2022 (only 3 QB on scholarship).
At any rate, LSU as well as most teams, will have to figure out how to get more QBs in the future since everyone who does not start these days transfers. Finley was a local 3 star recruit that I hoped would be here a few years to develop. He only made it 1 "sort of" year and he is gone.
Somehow LSU needs to find a QB or Two that is good enough to develop, but who really wants to be at LSU.

I am trying to understand why Tre' Morgan is not all SEC.
Posted by MikeTheTiger58 on 5/27/21 at 7:25 pm
He was a wizard around the bag. He had the second highest batting average in conference play. Top 8 in Runs scored, top 3 in hits. Fizzell had more HR, but I doubt his defense was anywhere near what Morgan put up.
Is first base a "I don't care about defense if you hit HR position"?

He should stay in the lineup, but needs to be moved out of the 4 hole. He has not delivered with runners in scoring position and eventually teams will start pitching around Doughty.
This I agree with. If he remains unlucky, in a few weeks PM will end up having to do something. He is hitting the ball hard, but having a terrible time. sometimes, the guy who never hits the ball square is the one rewarded with "hits".
